Re: Living in USA
Huh...I thought mushtael meant "provoked"?
To be provoked, you need a provoker. For ishteaal, you dont.

Did my response get you all "isteaal-ed"? Passively isteaal-ed?
Re: Living in USA
OK so according to Free Arabic English Translation Online Dictionary Translator, ishteaal means ignition. Makes sense as the word sholaa (flame) must be from ishteaal,
Re: Living in USA
Never heard of that word and I lived in Pakistan longer than Muzna did :D
Re: Living in USA
These words are no longer part of spoken urdu. You will only find them in urdu newspaper.

I have seen many Pakistani news channels still using the words "Mushta-iL" and "Ishte-aL"

Yep, that's where I heard them being thrown around almost interchangeably for every other issue or protest.

that is what I meant. They are used in journalism, but not in regular urdu.
Re: Living in USA
And please, dont give me lectures on peaceful protest. we Muslims dont know the meaning of that.
I dont need to give you a lecture when I just have to tell you that you are completely wrong. There are many examples of that.
Re: Living in USA
that was sarcasm which always has an element of exaggeration.

Re: Living in USA
peace meray bhai.....peace.
yes....if we were only this particular about reducing things to the lowest common denominator then we would not be where we are today.....
and why are we becoming so technical here......to me inappropriate priority is equal to and/or leads to shirk. why even tread close to that path?
It's not shirk not even close ... You can say the reaction was wrong, but it is not near worship ... if it was near worship then you are sort of saying that this violent reaction should have been done if Allah (SWT) was being mocked ... But you would agree with me that in neither case should the violent action be taken ... But I hope you also see that in either case it is not about worship but about feelings being hurt ... Not shirk nor near it and to say otherwise is actually doing takfir on others. And there is no gain in that when we should be unifying one another in this day and age.
