Wait a minute...Kingdom of Saudi Arabia?
anyone who is in a place he feels at ease at is lucky, there are many people in places they dont like but thats where fate put them.
Is is fate, or is it their own choice? We are all be born somewhere, no choice there, but afterwards...
I was born and raised in the US, and I love it here.
ditto
Re: living in the west
I was a few months old when I came to Canada. And I love living here cuz it's safe, more freedom, and no load shedding lol
Re: living in the west
whenever I have lived abroad the thing I missed most was the food. Pakistan has the best fruit & other food items. I always found food of other countries to be soo tasteless even the meat. I think Pakistan is the best when it comes to food. Otherwise , on all the other things other countries are better esp Singapore. It's one of the best countries to live in.
Re: living in the west
and by the way singapore is not in the west , it’s in the far east …I have never been to west ![]()
Re: living in the west
You can't have everything perfect. There are always going to be things you're not happy with. I was born in England and I have lived in Islamabad, Pakistan for a 6-7 years. No country is perfect. Personally, I prefer living in the UK. Drinking is not an issue for me. If people want to drink it's life life as long as they don't say anything to me. People who complain about their kids adopting the Western customs need to go and see the younger generation in Pakistan at the moment. We have this mindset that just because someone lives in the West they automatically fall into the *awara *category. There's good and bad everywhere. If you don't like a country you can always move out. We could always move to an Islamic country. It's all about tolerance and acceptance.

fate lands you in a place, then its up to you whether you like some other place better to a point that you make a move, and its not just choice for many people, its ability and circumstances as well.

just be happy where you live cuz…

For those of you who live in a western country, do you like it? The reason I am asking is because I have met many south asians who lived here (im in Canada) but who complain about EVERYTHING. (usually older generations though).I understand you might not like some things, but to complain about everything?? Examples: girls here are so "loose", look at what they wear, the weather sucks, people here drink, I dont like western values, people are not religious enough, my kids are losing their culture...". My question is, why do they stay here then?
I'm also in Canada. I've been here since I was young. I also see people who come here from South Asia complain/compare different things. Among them are:
I can understand that they would feel that way. A lot of things they once took for granted are just not there anymore. Why do they stay? Well, that's something you'd have to ask them.
Since I grew up here, while I saw that many things that I didn't like are being done, it wasn't a shock for me, though I personally avoided them.
I hate when people complain about it.Especially ladies complaining about maids and not getting rest all the time. And when I ask them then why are you here and there answer is we cannot leave our husband.Stop complaining then and live with it and be happy.I was born and raised in KSA and now I am in US. I never complained about KSA and I am not complaining about US also.

Money. Because paisa is totally halaal. Nothing loose or irreligious about dollars.

Exactly and they never have an attachment to Canada, they will always consider themselves Pakistani not Pakistani-Canadian.
And if they hate Canada that much than Pearson International is right around the corner no one is forcing them to stay.
Re: living in the west
Here's what totally ticks me off.....
People that immigrate, obtain their landed status, health cards, benefits, etc, etc and then bugger off to live back home while still claiming residency in Canada.
I've met at least 5 families that have done this and are proud to say that Canada "koi rehnay ki jagah nahin hai". They have just obtained their landed/citizenship status so that they can come here to avail health benefits when they are older or provide their children with another bullet point on their resume when looking for suitable matches for them. Apparently the going rate for foreign status is comparably higher than for elite locals.
Everytime I see my pay stub, which normally shows a close to 50% deduction from gross for taxes I curse these leeches. They make little to no contribution yet plan to take advantage of the benefits that I pay for.......and according to statistics, I need to put more and more away because chances are the state will be bankrupt and unable to provide me benefits when I rightfully deserve them at retirement.

I don't know how it works in Ontario, but in Quebec you have to be present in the country for at least 6 months in a year to be able to use medicare so it's not like they can leech off the service. Other than that, if they just have the citizenship/immigrant status, I don't think anybody (taxpayer) loses anything from it.

It works the same way......but how are you going to prove that the person was not a resident for the past 6 months when they come to use the healthcare system? As far as I know there is no check-system in place.
Furthermore......when these folks come to use benefits in their later years are they rightfully entitled to do so considering they have not contributed? How will you feel about being denied or delayed a direly needed service because the system is being abused? What if you have been paying into the system for more than 25 years?
I have to pay for my eye exams now.......granted the cost is about $100/exam......but this was a service that used to be covered by OHIP in the past. Eventually I will have to pay a per visit fee when I want to visit my GP.........why? Because of the drain that is now on the system.

You're right. I'm not sure what checks (if any) they have in place. I guess when you apply for a renewal, they might be able to catch it there.
Another point is how much do they come here to get medical treatments? It doesn't really make sense to spend a few thousand dollars (on plane tickets) to come here for only a few days, get checked up and then leave.
They're also going to implement the per visit fee here in addition to a year fee per person. I don't think it's so much about people abusing the system as much as the bureaucrats mismanaging the money.
Re: living in the west
Muzna, u are just seeing this, something that happened in UK decades ago. I have mixed feelings about it, the abuse of the system is something that irks me, whether it is cases like you have noted or where tax payers have to pay more taxes to shoulder the burden of illegals who are not paying their share.
for many people though, having another citizenship is a safety net, this way if **** hits the fan back in their home country they can get out aside from being a refugee. They dont have a real desire to move out, or to move out just yet but want to have that option.
some also do it so their kids have an option to go abroad and study and not be a foreign student and be able to work and study without restrictions.
some people are very forward planning and go to a diff country to have the kids (and sometimes stiffing the hospitals) so when the kid is 18 the kid can sponsor them :) UK tried to put a hold to it because ladies were showing up about to pop a kid and over there they would just have the free hospital, get the kid a UK passport and leave. but when they started making policies that women with visible advanced pregnancies cant get in, everyone started talking about racism.
