PM summons joint session of Parliament on Tuesday - Pakistan - DAWN.COM

ISLAMABAD: A high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday has decided to summon a joint session of the parliament on Tuesday 2nd September to discuss prevailing crisis in the country.

The joint session of the parliament would adopt another resolution for upholding the Constitution and supremacy of the Parliament.

Highly placed sources told Dawn.com that a meeting, chaired by the PM, condemned the attack on Parliament House by protestors and termed it against the Constitution.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif again offered dialogue to PTI and PAT leaders aimed at ending the ongoing impasse in the country.

Sources have also told Dawn.com that Nawaz Sharif issued new directives to Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan to ensure the security of state institutions located at Constitution Avenue by utilising all resources.

The meeting appreciated the act of the police against violent attackers.

“Invasion on PM house was made despite commitment of not doing this,” said an official statement issued after the meeting.

The meeting also decided to accept a proposal by Opposition leader Khurshid Shah who had suggested for convening a joint session of Parliament during his speech on Friday before NA session.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Army may want to see more bodies to protect itslef before it can protect the civilians from gullo butts.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Typical Geo News like propaganda and false information by Nawaz Sharif supporters. This is effectively 20th day of protest, and if the entire crowd is hired then do you know much it is probably costing PTI to sustain this movement for that many days. Considering we're talking about Pakistanis, the best bet is to blame the Jews. But then again these are the same people who said IK won't be able to gather 100 people and his dharana won't last more than day! Now they have come up with whole lot of other tosh. It's a typical Pakistani mentality and apatite for mindless conspiracy theories, they think their countrymen are so dead and intellectually paralysed that they possibly cannot be awaken. The country is so damn perfect in every way, that people cannot possibly find enough reasons and motivation to go out to demand change and extension of their rights.

I can understand why everything must seem so surreal to IK critics.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Nothing about protecting people.

Baseless propaganda from Noora supporters on GS

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

It is not an an independent area, but it is a federal area belonging to the federation and police can be requested from anywhere in the federation as and when needed. The areas adjoining Islamabad is located in Punjab and is technically surrounded by Punjab on all sides, so it is natural that most of the police would come from Punjab. Police from Kashmir is also there.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

After witnessing Punjab police's brutality, all these parties have changed their tone. Vote of no confidence doesn't seem like an impossible task now.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

you must be joking, which political party have ever thought about that??? people are just fuel for their egos or hunger for power.. nothing more...

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Lets see what happens

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Those that know are saying, if IK and TuQ want Army to intervene , then ask for it specifically and publicly. Army will not intervene just cos some dudes on twitter and facebook are asking it. Im also seeing a growing trend on social media where PTI supporters are condemning the army for not intervening.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Swearing on Javed Hasmin started on social media..

the most civilized thing is Ghadar..

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

did anyone listen to saad rafique (PMLN) and arif alvi (PTI) on mehar bukhari show? it was such a civilized debate from both sides..i wish we had this culture more pronounced

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Yes only Nooras on GS are saying that PTI wants Army

They have no credibility at all trust me

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

Some senior Nawas League Sindh member has resigned from the party.

Re: Live Updates of Azadi March

forget what saad rafique said for a second

here is what arif alvi said live:

1) we were negotiating with PMLN group last evening and we are very close to every demand other than PM resignation demand....in that meeting, PMLN group requested to us that PAT and its supporters have decided to march towards parliament and that its supporters have dandas, cutters, hammers and a crane and that PTI should stay away from it because if PAT crosses a certain threshold, state will react

2) we the PTI negotiation committee agreed with PMLN request and when we went back to imran khan sahib, we gave him same recommendation that PTI should stay away from PAT

so what happened? arif was against marching towards PM house, SMQ was against it, hashmi was aginst it....the what happened and why did imran change his mind
