Letter sent to Swiss AG to reopen Zardari cases: NAB

Yeah right. And what about your English? Can you say something without using curse words or profanity? Do you own this forum? Why don't you just block these threads and avoid loose motions of profanity from your mouth? Learn to live with difference of opinion. Ziaul-haq and other dictators are either dead or left the country tail in their behind.

and why can't you accept that the SC is stepping out of its bounds by relentlessly pursuing a witch hunt against politicians and Zardari in particular?

I mean honestly answer this question for me. apart from the convicted criminal bit what do you even know about this story? do you know who Ramday is and why people are turning against him? how he was reapppointed, etc? do you know who Tariq Mehmood is? did you follow the judiciary movement? what it was launched for? how it unfolded? what it accomplished? and what even its leaders feel now?

this story isn't as simple as Zardari. this is actually about the SC and how it is functioning. and the opinion of many people is that it is not functioning in an appropriate manner.

there, I even summarized it all for you. now it's up to you to go do some background reading and research to educate yourself on the history of this story which isn't as simple as you make it.

Re: Letter sent to Swiss AG to reopen Zardari cases: NAB

I am sorry but the courts going after corrupt politicians will never be beyond its mandate or bounds. It is the job of the courts to try people accused and guilty of corruption. It is the role of every court in every country.

You are just pissed because the courts are going after Zardari. That is it. If they had gone after the Generals you would be jumping for joy.

Re: Letter sent to Swiss AG to reopen Zardari cases: NAB

SC needs a slap seriously, let the freaking system continue,... let them do the 18th amendement. go take care other cases... for example...

Musharraf, Bughti, Missing People... and else and else..... and take freaking suomoto on afia siddquie... loosers @

fair enough. the court should be going after corrupt politicians.

but that is not the ONLY thing the court should do. there is corruption among other facets of society as well. why not address them too? there are corrupt judges as well. why not start with them? start with Malik Qayyum.

and what about the missing people? what about Bugti? where does the SC's suo moto go then? can't take the suo moto there can it? doesn't have the balls to take on the army for a coldblooded, calculated murder. what about corruption, justice, etc? why hasn't the SC taken any notice of the murder of Hammad Raza (its own registrar)? let me tell you why. because the trail of blood would lead back to the khakhis. and you know when it comes to the bootwallas, then the SC becomes impotent. its teeth are only for politicians.

err of course, I would. because for a change the SC would be trying to be fair. or at least give the illusion of being fair. right now it can't even be bothered to give that impression. why? because these judges are drunk on power.

Iftikhar Chaudry has developed the messiah complex. now again, please before behaving like an infant and accusing me of being a jiyala, please know that as opposed to being an online flame warrior like you, I have actually gone to protests for the restoration of this judiciary and the same Iftikhar Chauhdry that I am criticizing now. fact of the matter is gullible folks like me were shown things about Iftikhar Chauhdry's past which were less than stellar... but we got swept up in emotions and refused to believe those accusations. but it turns out that maybe some of those accusations were indeed true. makes me wonder why I even bothered. and that is as someone who merely supported the cause. wonder how the likes of Aitzaz Ahsan, Kurd, Tariq Mehmood feel who went to jail and suffered so much so these judges could be restored only to have them piss all over the sacrifices of so many people.

this SC, the lawyers body and the Musharraf/Zaid Hamid/Shahid Mossad assorted fanboys have no respect for the parliament and democracy. like that jackass lawyer who said that the parliament was filled with thieves. oh really? Ayaz Amir, Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, Sheikh Waqas, Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Qamar Kaira are all thieves? honestly, someone tell that jackass lawyer about libel laws and how he could have his behind handed to him on a platter for such bakwaas.

and speaking of thieves, was Malik Qayyum not a lawyer AND a lowlife thug? is Sharifuddin Pirzada not a lawyer and a person with no redeemable quality of any decency in him? is that Advocate Naeem whose family is accused of torturing and killing the 13 year old maid they had employed not a lawyer? does that mean that all lawyers are thieves and murderers now?

the underlying problem with the SC and the few thug lawyers who support it is a lack of respect for the parliament and democracy. first it was the army that had this disease. now Mashallah the SC has developed it too. funny thing is that the same SC went so far as to give a dictator the right to amend the constitution as he pleased for the sake of the "system". but today the same "system" is being kicked in the face by the same SC because the system is being run by politicians instead of generals.

Zardari enjoys absolute immunity, no cases can be re-opened, says Swiss AG
President Asif Ali Zardari. The Swiss Attorney General said it is a big problem because under the International Law which is also applicable to Switzerland, the Head of State, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister enjoy absolute immunity on reopening of cases.
To a question by the interviewer about reopening of cases if submitted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Attorney General of Geneva said “ if an application to reopen the cases in Swiss courts was submitted through Pakistan’s Embassy it would be returned,” since the Head of the State enjoys absolute immunity according to International Law.
Daniel Zappelli, the Attorney General of Geneva, said that he had received a three- page fax from Pakistan which he believed was an incomplete application.
“But it is difficult to say because practically documents like these are exchanged between governments through embassies and which carry official seal”, he said.
Zappelli was again asked whether he had received any request or document from Pakistan government for reopening of cases against Asif Ali Zardari, to which he said he had received a three-page fax based on the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in which it was stated that the case be reopened.
When asked whether any department was mentioned in the application, the Attorney General of Geneva said it had mentioned the name of the National Accountability Bureau.
The Attorney General said he would like to reply to a letter from any official agency or the government having relevant annexure.
Without annexure with the letter, it would be difficult to respond to that type of document, he said.
Responding to a question, the Attorney General of Geneva said, “These cases should be tried in the Lahore High Court if the Supreme Court of Pakistan declares non-availability of immunity to the President.”
“If money laundering cases could not be proved in the courts of Pakistan, how could we do it?,” asked Danniel Zappelli while replying to a question.
The Attorney General of Geneva said he could not confirm when asked about the laundering of US $ 60 million in Swiss Banks.
If these were cases of corruption or kickback where is a person who had given that money in bribe, Danniel Zappelli asked.
If a Pakistani citizen commits a crime, it should be first proven in a Pakistani court, he said.
He further stated that Pakistan would have to provide evidence that a crime had indeed been committed.
Pakistan’s government had remained silent for a period of eleven years, the Attorney General said.
Giving details about the closure of cases in Swiss courts, he said “we received an application by the government of Pakistan through its Embassy to close cases in Swiss courts on June 4, 2008.”
