I think Javed Miandad must now finally be silenced and placed in a corner, never to emerge again. He lacks the temprament and tactics to be a successful manager of today’s team and players. He also personalizes things to an unhealthy extent.
I think this will be Pakistan’s first home series win in over one year. We went from the low of almost losing to Bangladesh at home to a series win over the team of the moment.
This all started with “The Resistance,” a day that will live in history as the re-emergence of Pakistani Test Cricket. On that day, little-known Kamran Akmal and slumping Abdul Razzaq frustrated Indian bowling, batting and battling Pakistan to an honorable draw. On that day, our batting lineup learned how to fight, claw and teeth your way in test cricket. Since then, we have become competitive again. Gone are the days when we wonder if Pakistan could bat two sessions, much less two days. Who remembers the collapses when we lost 5 day matches in 3 days?
It all starts with leadership and yes, Inzy is the man, but credit the man who started it all by bringing team work, strategy and commitment back to the Pakistan Team, Mr. Bob Woolmer. He is quietly creating a “South Africa” in Asia. He’s only just beginning and the best part is, our Test Team isn’t even the best unit we have, our One Day Team, with flexible batting up and down the order, multiple all rounders and now the coming up of Shoaib, will be even more devastating.
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
Remember my thread on lack of professionalism in Pakistan cricket? The disease has been cured. Pre-Woolmer days, miracles would win us matches and that too once every five years. Post-Woolmer, we have had five forced miracles within a calendar year! The Marathon of Mohali to Banging in Bangalore, the Massacre in Multan to Landslide in Lahore...it's all happening here brotha'!
This is what I had only asked for from my team, professionalism.
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
You also have to remember that Miandad lost much of his players' respect when PCB didn't give him respect (getting him, then firing him). He was good in the beginning tenures. The team that made to the World Cup of '99 can be attributed to Miandad's efforts.
Woolmer is doing the same thing (i believe) as they do in america (using stats, science) as miandad also said but then you have duggas like imran coming and bitching that no, you don't science in cricket blah blah.
Now since a gora is at helm, everyone is straight like an arrow.
Really goes to show our paki team's dugga pind mentality. Licking shoes of gora saab (for good reason though this time).
As I remember one junoon song which had the follow "zehni ghulami see kash ho hum aazaad" (talash I believe).
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
[quota]Its not "zehni ghulami" to blame, give credit where due, Bob has done a good job, players have worked hard and have become a unit

Oh you are talking about that other gora (i don't think he was manager) plus pakistan back then had many seasoned satta baaz in its team!
I am not discrediting Woolmer but you gotta admit this "zehni ghulami" of gora is god pind paindoo mentality which showed up in london, america, europe where our inferiority complexed pind paindoos think of having a gori wife/girlfriend as the biggest achievement in life unlike indians, chinese who get educated and try to make a place for themselves in the society..
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
The "zehni ghulami" point is ludicrous because we have Richard Pybus as our coach before and that team lost in WC03 in humiliating fashion. So your point has no merit whatsover. Credit the person, not his race or background.
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
Woolmer is the man! Don't give me that BS about "zehni ghulami". There is no doubt that he is the best thing that could have happened to Pakistani team. REGARDLESS OF HIS OWN NATIONALITY OR ORIGIN!

who exactly are you talking about. You or somebody you know perhaps? That's the first time I've heard that pakis think marrying gori is the "biggest achievement in life". I am sure there are some that do think like that, but to hear you say it, every paki living abroad to a man follows this line of thinking. 90% of your post seem to consist of gross and false generalization of pakis.
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
i dont think miandad should b blasted at all when ever there is a coach crisis miandad is called, he did well with young players also, u guys 4get even after wc03,, pak won test series against SA and in NZ they won a test series! no question woolmer has brought about a total change in terms of fitness i.e professionalism, but a lot of credit must go to miandad bcuz he statred with these young fellas, but i do agree cha cha wooli has done a good job!
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
look at the young talent on our team:
Salman Butt
Yunus Khan
Shahid Afridi (still young)
Kamran Akmal (two amazing centuries under pressure, one in India, one against England)
Rana Naved
Shoaib Malik
Danish Kaneria
If you recall, a team of veterans was expunged after the WC. The best decision was to keep Inzy on the team despite his troubles; the second best was to hire a coach who knew how to harness young talent.
Re: Let's Admit It: Bob Woolmer is a Miracle Maker
I agree with Jazba_pk. Woolmar has done what was needed badly in our team. i.e. discipline, fitness and professionalism. These three are like vital signs for consistant peformance and automatically crush deseases of big ego and bad attitude. It also makes everyone to run for their job, securing their position for next series as almost everyone will be replacable one day with a fresh hurd of talented players. Half of the team already has backups any day.
But Miandad also gave a new soul to a very young team full of inexperienced players, right after disasterous WC03. So he did what he could being a fellow countryman, given how much parchi and pressure a desi coach can resist.
