Let the calculations begin

Even if we do make it to the semis, most likely we will be facing the Aussies

we cannot beat them with the current batting, so what's the point?

Re: Let the calculations begin

i bet Chokers gona choke again ......

but than again v gona depend on the match NZ Vs Eng

Well in that case what was the point of going to world cups because all the teams realised that Aus were very difficult to beat. We should have sent the cup to them without playing the tournament. Aus are not gods they can have bad days as well, like they had against Zimbabwe. As I have said with Pakistan you never know.

Re: Let the calculations begin

Great job England!!!!!
With this defeat, SA's net run rate has dropped to -0.400 which is below Pakistan's NRR of -0.215. Now Pakistan must defeat SA to qualify.

Re: Let the calculations begin

Pak NRR -0.215
SA NRR -0.65
NZL NRR -0.30

simple equation now.

Pak beat SA (by whatever margin) and Eng beat NZL (by whatever Margin), Pak will be playing in semifinal of this tournament lol!

Re: Let the calculations begin

lol …
Depending Champions We Are :jhanda:

Australia were never overwhelming favourites in any World T20 event like they are in almost every other format. Sri Lanka, India (+ Sehwag) can still beat Windies & SLA and qualify, and England are equally strong. Yes this is T20 and Aussies are beatable but my reservations about Pakistan's chances were purely because of our substandard batting. Infact batting is the single biggest reason why we have been losing in cricket for a good 3-4 years now. Yes we did have collapses before then (every team does) but not with such regularity. The last 2-3 years have truly been a nightmare

Re: Let the calculations begin

Bad news for Pakistani fans is that Kevin Pietersen is flying back to England. KP will not play against New Zealand :(

one inch closer to the semis!!! Awesome captaincy by Afridi!Him and the great
statistician Waqar younis are genius

Don’t worry, Morgan will do :insh:

Actually, I've just realized that Net Run Rate (NRR) doesn't work that simply. Depending on how many runs are made, a win could decrease the NRR and a loss could increase the NRR. So a simple win for Pak and a loss for NZ could still rule Pakistan out.

Re: Let the calculations begin

no man ......A simple win for Pak n simple Loss for NZ will rule NZ out n PaK

coz SA NRR is Less than Pak N OF course IF NZ loses their NRR will go down more

Re: Let the calculations begin

Pakistan(-0.215) now have the best run rate among New Zealand(-0.300) and South Africa(-0.650).

This means Pakistan now can qualify for Semi final irrespective of run rate. All has to happen is that Pakistan beat South Africa and England beat New Zealand. Even if Pakistan beat RSA by 1 run or chase the target on last ball, and England beat NZ by 1 run or chase the target on last ball still Pakistan will qualify for Semi final.

In the nutshell, England must beat NZ and Pakistan must beat RSA.

I think what brahmachari is saying is that a Pak win against SA and NZ loss against Eng will bring three teams to 2 points each. Currently Pak's run-rate is higher but lets say SA scores 145 in 17.3 overs while Pak chases that score in 20 overs then our run-rate will drop. So Pak will have to keep its run-rate higher than SA when chasing in case SA get all out before 20 overs otherwise it will be between SA and NZ run-rate.

Not correct.

If a team gets bowled out without using up their full quota of 20 overs - say for 150 in 15 overs, their RR is not 150/15 = 10 but 150/20 = 7.5

1st miracle: Win against SA and ENG’s win over NZ
2nd miracle: win in Semi Final
**3rd miracle: **win in Final

sorry, there is no likelihood for 3 miracles to be happened in a row
cuz the nation back at home require nothing less than the trophy
No… even a loss after a good fight is not acceptable for paki nation

– case dismissed – :snooty:

Re: Let the calculations begin

Lets Hope For A Upset Now
ie Pak def SA
ENG Def NZ

In a matter of 72 hours Pakistan got bailed out twice. One by Australia when they beat Bangladesh last Wednesday and then By England when they beat Saffies. In between that Pakistan managed to lose two of their Super 8 games as well but how funny the game of cricket can be. Pakistan still have a chance and can qualify for semi final. But they have to deliver now. They have delivered in past when you least expected them to do. Lets hope for a miracle.

What teams need to do to make the semis

What the three teams in Group E need to do to qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2010 semi-finals

With England already through to the semi-finals from Group E, the three remaining teams are now in must-win scenarios. But only New Zealand needn't bother about other results. Pakistan and South Africa will need to win their match, and also have the other match go how they want it to go. Here are the permutations for how other teams can make it.

**Pakistan (points 0, net run-rate -0.215
**They need to beat South Africa, and then hope that England beat New Zealand later in the day. If both the matches go down Pakistan's desired route, they will be level on two points along with New Zealand and South Africa, and they will also have the best net run-rate of the three.

**South Africa (points 2, net run-rate -0.650)
**They can't sneak in based on net run-rate, because they are the worst among the three right now. They will need to beat Pakistan and then hope that England beat New Zealand. If New Zealand win, South Africa will most likely be out, unless they beat Pakistan by a mammoth margin, and New Zealand win very narrowly.

**New Zealand (points 2, net run-rate -0.3)
**Simplest equation: win and go through, lose and go home. What happens in the other match doesn't much matter to them. If South Africa win the first match, they will have gone to four points, and New Zealand will have to win to come level on points, and then their better net run-rate should carry them through. If Pakistan win, New Zealand know they can't afford to lose because that loss will leave them level with Pakistan at two points, but Pakistan will have a better net run-r
