I’ve seen that dress before on the imani website, and that dress really caught my eye. In addition, I LOVE her jewelry specially the jhumar. My chachi told me that theres a place on zamzama in karachi that makes designer dresses exactly the same bead for bead and charge half the price. but if that dress is 2400 then it will still cost 1200 pounds from there. so i suggest that u go to mohsin sons cuz they quoted u a good price of 75-80k. but before going to them u should check out if they have copied other designer pieces and copied them correctly. but if u dont want it exactly like that and u wanna add more kaam to it then u shouldnt worry about that and just go for the dress at mohsin sons. price is really good! good luck!
**Y****aar designers DO NOT copy designs/stuff for you…that is what you are paying them for…to create new designs…If you want a dress copied…then you can go to these tailors in Liberty Market, Lahore…they would copy any thing for you!!
But mind you…no matter where you get your dress copied from…it will be no match to the original…I know this girl she copied one of HSY’s lengha for fer baraat and…she paid quite a bit for it too…BUT the end result was so so…I saw her wedding video and I honestly thought she had wasted all that money on the copy…
Then again these are just my personal views…I have seen a lot of copies…no matter how good people say the copies are…they would always be a copy…the embellishment on the dress would never be as accurate and as delicate as the original…
**Yeah that is PRETTY!!! :D Me, I do not my exact baraat colors yet! Still waiting for a "colored Sketch" from Taufiq...I will give him another week before I start bugging him about my sketch.... You can only imagine how hard it is :p to wait patiently!
It was only last Thursday that he promised me the sketches soon...to me it seems like it was ages ago...just coz I am all hyped up to see what he is up2 :D But then again patient is not exactly my Virtue! :D :D :D**
and designers DO customize dresses. the works on display are not all they do. u can get them to make outfits from scratch for u. its just that if u order the ones advertised most possibly they will be made faster because they already have the cloth and they just have to sew it per measurement.
**Come on that's the whole point of designer wear!
Their signature/style of work!!
Wouldn't you want Gucci or Versace stuff to look like Gucci and Versace stuff...similarly with bridal wear your go for designers for their style, artistic work and name...If you just want a no name product that no one can tell then you wouldn't pay half the price...No??**
^ i guess it depends... i'd love to have worn a karma or hsy original because of their designs, but i didn't have the budget for it, and i also had so many other things i wanted to funnel the money into, that it didn't seem reasonable to use up such a huge chunk of overall wedding expenses on one outfit. so i got my karma knock-off gharara for my mehendi, and designed my own lehenga for shaadi, and yay! happy days! :)
having said that, if i had a bigger budget, then i would have definitely looked into what the designers had on offer and whether i really loved it enough to own it. i think thats the thing too- you shouldn't buy a designer outfit just cos its designer... you really do have to love it and want to own it, and similarly, if you love something non-designer on sale on tariq road, you shouldn't hesitate to buy it just cos it hasn't got a designer name attached to it.

That what i meant...and of course you have to like it to buy it... :)
Partly because I want something that is unique, not something that is "in" for everyone. And I've never been one to wear obviously branded outfits as a marketing device; it's that way with the most famous designs.
So I'd get designer wear in the future, but not something that is very very recognizable.
wow ... you girls are so lucky! You get to select your wedding dress yourself. I wish I could, but I am only getting 3 weeks off from work ... so I will be in paki 1 week before the shaadi and 2 weeks after. Sooooo ... my mommy has to select my wedding dress :( I still dont know what color I want. I know I want red or maroon ... but I am not sure what combination I want with that ... what do you girls suggest? what are nice combinations with red or maroon?
