Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
The only short shirt pictures I have are from about 2006-7 and older when short shirts were in fashion. Now lambi kameezay are more the norm so that’s what most people are wearing. I got mine made down to below my knees at the front and down to my ankles at the back. If you are happy with the way your dress looks then just keep it short - in about 5 years’ time we will all be out of fashion anyway haha - who knows, your short shirt might be back in again!
Alternatively if you wanted long shirt you could add fabric to your kameez and keep your chaak high and wide so you can see your lehenga, so you’d kind of have an effect like this:

Or you could have it front open…?
Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
Unfortunately, where I live, the trend is still pretty much short shirts unless a girl specifically designs one and pays more for a longer kameez, or unless she goes to Pakistan for a wedding dress :(
There's a few pics I've seen with short shirts, bear with me a few hours and I'll post em :)

Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
The short shirts are still being worn in the UK, so no - they haven't completely gone out of fashion and I highly doubt they'll ever go out. :)
Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
^ I don't think it's a case of short shirts not going out of fashion because we are still wearing them, but rather that we are just years behind the trend, lol. Having said that, I think that UK brides are heavily influenced by Indian magazines which feature short shirts.
Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
Yeah you are right that the trend here is just too SLOW, and there is little influence from Pakistani designers and more from the Indian designers. I’ve had to get mine designed because there were hardly any long shirts in the shops, and when I did ask around I was getting really confused looks. ![]()
Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
so i should go boldly with a short shirt??
This is really nice i saw her pics on irfan ahsons page and it kinda looked like a maxi the way it flowed! Short shirts here in the UK indont like.. They just look the same but alot of girls can pull off the look.!
Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
Imo the UK thing is more about supply and demand.. I think a lot of UK girls here regardless of the current fashion would go for the shorter shirts like the way a lot of white girls here just go for strapless gowns even tho the current trend might be a more conservative style..
I would prob go down the short route.. it's just more me.. Each to their own..
Re: lehanga with SHORT SHIRT
I agree with Deeba and jiwani. I've seen loads of long kameez designs in Southall, but they don't exactly float my boat. I think people here are equally influenced by indian and pakistani designers. I'm going for a maxi length for the wedding day and short shirt for the valima, because I want to look different on both days. :)
