^ Oopss. . .
I thought that this Shaykh is a type of white convert who learnt to speak beautiful Arabic and resides in the US. BUt no, He is ethnically Iraqi.
Very nice lecture indeed. I'm watching his speech.
JazakAllah

Re: Lectures by Shaikh Ninowy
i really liked the lectures das reich, thanks for putting them up :k:
Re: Lectures by Shaikh Ninowy
^ Thank u ravage for referring me here.
I can’t agree more that the lectures were really worth listening. The contents are very much like the content of other muharram lectures that I am used to listening from shia lecturers - which I didn’t expect.
But after listening to him, I am getting more confused on the Ahle-sunnah stance. His views seems to contradict the views of the posters here who defend Yazid while this moulana is telling us exactly who and what Yazid stood for. He mentions about the concept of being sad, he mentions the example of Prophet Yaqoub a.s.
I listened to 3 of his lectures and all were enjoyable. Except that he in the end he mentions that some sects think Imam Hussain’s story is just ‘about being sad and a festival of morning processions’. If he is referring to the shias, then I think he is incorrect in saying so. Every year on numerous majlises, we are told to learn the lessons from the Tragedy of Karbala - it’s not just about the masiabs.
Anyone interested can actually dl instead of listening/watching online.

I think everyone especially those who participate in shia-sunni disscussions should listen to it. ![]()

with all due respect shaikh is very close to the truth ....there is a great disconnect between the topic of the majalis and the masaib eventually narrated ...most of which are fictional ....last nite i attented a majalis where to bring the audience to tears the zakir mentioned that "every commander that Hasan [as] sent to the front was bought by muawiyah" and that "followers of hasan were even fewer than hussain's " ....such lies he shamelessly narrated. The real tragedy is that shia and sunni scholars have narrated in depth the events and proved from various sources the events leading to karbala
but they are frequently overlooked in favor of fabricated reports ...as somehow the actual history is not tragic enough....they have to be "spiced up" ....not good material if you want to make the people cry
Re: Lectures by Shaikh Ninowy
Das Reich, a few things I hope you follow
scout out your zakir beforehand. you live in a big city right, there must be more than one option to go to. all zakirs arent the same, and the largest gathering sometimes doesnt have the best zakir. I google the aalims in my city beforehand, you can probably find their majalis online and would be able to know if their popularity seeking hacks or proper ulema.
it doesnt always work but sometimes it actually does work if you talk to the zakir afterwards, at the very least u'll let him know that there are people who can call him out on his BS.
exagerration/playing to the crowd is a very bad problem with majalis I agree, and I think thats partially cause theyre allowed to get away with it.

you are right there are many great ulemas and scholars amongst the shias and their lectures are also readily avalible but what I am trying to say is that these people are not very popular with the masses and how many people care to look at books and lectures ? at the most 1 in 50
majalis is still the most
effective way of communication with the masses in the shia community.

I did that a couple of times but always was presented with the argument that "zakireen know better "

it is upto people like you to take the initiative encourage reading and listining lectures of ulemas who are expert in history to present the facts about karbala and DISCOURAGE attending majalis where zakirs of questionable credentials are allowed to speak....even though at times most of these distortions are not because of any lack of knowledge but to score points ...i was disappointed that even a scholar like kalb-e-sadiq would succumb to it
