So we (Sunny Boy and I mainly) have decided to open this thread to teach Punjabi to others and learn from others. I know there are many great Punjabi speakers that have deep knowledge of the language and we hope to learn from them.
Use this thread to ask what Punjabi words mean or how to say something in Punjabi or translate from Punjabi.
To start off with:
Majajan = Young girl
Gidda = Circle that girls form when they dance, mostly in Punjab.
Feel free to ask any other **Punjabi related questions.
I can but the cafe people requested for this thread. We will have more traffic here and I will have control over the thread when things start to get out of hands. If it's moved to culture, less traffic and as a mod, I will have no control over it.
what does it mean
gijjy gijjy lomri tay padan da sawad ? I heard it from someone, but do not know what it means but it sounded so weired that it stuck to my mind. if it is something offensive feel free to edit .
As Sunny said, Labotra = Labma
Namkhato = I don’t think that’s a Punjabi word.
Gijji Gijji = someone that’s used to something
Lomri = Fox
padan da sawad = I am guessing it means “enjoys just about anything”. someone can correct me if I am wrong but paddan = farts = nothing really.
I don’t get the phrase. When asking something, please try to use the words in a sentence in which you have heard it. That can help even if you misspell the word.
Ahhh, she meant to say gore. Yes, you are right, that means qabar. The only thing related to gore and khunaa that I can think of is “khunaa” = khodna. Again, it may be a different word and MKD spelled it differently. I don’t think a mother would say this to her son “tumhari qabar khodoon”. I think you guessed the gaur part right. If MKD comes back with the sentence, we can then help her more. Good job discovering the actual word though :k:
Yay perfecto!
