When I said ex cricketers, I meant the contemporary big names you always seen on the TV and read about in the media. I should’ve been clearer.

A Chief selector must have a cricketing background, but he doesn’t have to be a prolific ex player who basically gets the job because of his popularity not because of any extraordinary professional record. Like I clearly said in my previous posts. a less well known name with yjr right coaching qualifications, on ground experience and with exceptional work ethics and commitment will be a better investment than hiring these trigger happy egoistic ex cricketers who are still obsessed personal glories.

Is it too much to hope for non controversial and professionally trained selectors?

Rashid is not someone who has played cricket and has been a captain… only. But he also had setup an academy, had coaching job. Yes he is a bit dramatic for lots of people’s choice, but if given right authority (not just someone who will sign a paper/stamp blindly) he could turn things around.
