Power of releasing a film during holiday season was best demonstrated by Shah Rukh Khan when he brought *Chennai Express on Eid and went on a record breaking spree. Now that *Happy New Year is all set to go on floor next month, it is apparent that best available date for his film’s arrival is being closely sought.
“Since this is a big film by Farah Khan, *Happy New Yearcan’t be expected to be ready before mid-2014. If one looks at the holiday season from July onwards, first to arrive would be Eid. Then there is Independence Day, Dusshehra, Diwali and Christmas,” informs a source. Interestingly, most of the slots are already taken with major superstars staking their claim.
“Salman was out of equation this year but would be back with a vengeance as Sajid Nadiadwala’s *Kickarrives on Eid,” an industry insider adds, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali is bringing Akshay Kumar’s *Gabbar on Independence Day though Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty’s *Singham 2 may arrive on the same day too. On Dusshehra/Gandhi Jayanti weekend, Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand are bringing their *Bang Bangwhile Christmas has been taken up by Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap for *Bombay Velvet.”
This leaves Diwali 2014 as the major available slot and given the fact that Shah Rukh Khan has enjoyed good dominance on the auspicious occasion for years, it can be said with utmost certainty that *Happy New Year would be vying for this slot.
“It would be a good follow up for Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan, considering the fact that their last outing together - *Om Shanti Om - had released on Diwali as well,” the source adds, “It is one big holiday that no one would want to miss for anything. The timing would be just apt as well.”
When contacted, Farah Khan said, “We haven’t locked any date yet. There are so many factors that come into play for a film’s release.” She didn’t deny having an eye on a holiday release. "Of course ours is a celebration movie. It is called *Happy New Year for a good reason. We would be looking forward to a holiday release.
She concludes, "In any case, this is yet to be discussed with Shah Rukh. He is promoting Chennai Expresstill date. Once he is through with it and we sit down to plan it out for Happy New Year, we should be ready with an announcement."***************

Katrina Kaif’s sister Natacha tied the knot on Sunday, August 25. Katrina left Mumbai for London at midnight Saturday, to join her family for the wedding, thereby rubbishing all the rumours and speculations regarding her alleged time-off for a visit to join Ranbir Kapoor in Sri Lanka.
Says a friend of Katrina’s, “To insinuate that Katrina has nothing better to do than to follow Ranbir Kapoor around like a jobless star-wife wherever he is shooting is not just absurd but also insulting. Katrina didn’t even have time to join her family in London in advance before the wedding. She left Mumbai for London just hours before the ceremony.”
And that brings us to the other speculative nonsense doing the rounds in Mumbai. It was being said that Katrina was busy trousseau-shopping for Natacha.
“Rubbish!” says Katrina’s friend. “All her sisters as strong-willed and independent-minded as Katrina. Natacha did all her wedding shopping on her. Katrina just flew in to attend the wedding. She flies back in a few days.”

Keeping his versatility, Bachchan has by far experimented with varied roles and now he has given a nod for Resul Pookutty’s next. The actor will be seen playing a Pakistani national in his next.
Though Resul has been mum about the details of Amitabh’s role, the director revealed that the film will have a realistic take on Indo-Pak relationships. Resul has also roped in Kamlesh Pandey to rework on the script. The details of the rest of the cast for this untitled project are yet to be finalized.

On Thursday morning filmmaker-actor Amole Gupte’s father Sudhakar Laxman Gupte passed away. The tragedy created a double crisis in Amole’s professional life. While his shooting schedule with Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor in Singham 2 would have to be modified, most seriously affected is the promotional events for his own film Hawaa Hawaai which is all set to release next week.
Both Amole who directs the film and his son Partho who plays the lead would now be unable to participate in the various media and academic events planned on the eve of the release.
A serious blow to the film’s producers Fox Star India.
Says a source close to Amole, “This is a big blow to both Amole and Partho. Both father and son were deeply attached to Amole’s father. They are in no condition to go on with the promotional activities.”
Most severely and immediately affected are the series of motivational lectures that Amole planned with principals’ of schools across the country.
Says a source close to the project, “The idea was to address principals of schools on the importance of letting students develop their special skills rather than forcing them into straitjackets and pre-decided aspirations. In fact this was what Amole’s first film Taare Zameen Par was about. It’d the theme of Hawaa Hawaai as well. Lectures in major cities were carefully planned. But now they stand cancelled.”
Most immediately affected was the lecture for principals scheduled for Lucknow on Thursday.
Plan B for the promotion of Hawaa Hawaai is to let the film’s other lead actor Saqib Salim go on with the promotional activities without Amole and Partho.
“But there is no sense in doing that. Partho is the central character of the film. So there is no Plan B,” explains a source from the team.

Ranbir Kapoor who had a fantastic birthday this year since his alleged girlfriend Katrina Kaif threw a bash for him, underwent a surgery, the day after the celebration. Ranbir Kapoor apparently was getting treated for his adenoid tonsil in a well known hospital in Mumbai this week.
Veteran actor and Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor confirmed about the surgery and stated that there is nothing to worry since it is not a major operation. He further added that his adenoid surgery is a routine and since Ranbir (Kapoor) was on a break of five days, he decided to go for the operation. Rishi Kapoor also mentioned that his son is currently on the way of recovery and will be discharged on October 1, that is, today.
Ranbir Kapoor currently has many projects in hand but the actor will not have any releases in 2014. Ranbir’s next film Bombay Velvet which was to release by the end of November has been shifted to May 2015. This Anurag Kashyap directorial also stars Anushka Sharma, Raveena Tandon, and Karan Johar among others. Apart from that, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in an extended cameo in his friend Vikramjit Singh’s directorial debut Roy. He is also doing a film with his former girlfriend Deepika Padukone titled Tamasha, directed by Imtiaz Ali, post which the actor will also be working on Anurag Basu’s Kishore Kumar biopic.
