I hope nothing happens tomorrow yaar. mubashar luqman will be responsible for any violence resulting from this. and i agree that this is a commonly sung qawalli on weddings. everyone is losing their mind over this and calling for the show hosts to be hung. is there no sanctity of human life anymore? the most sacred creation of Allah?

Mubasher Luqman/ARY will indeed be responsible. But, ultimately it will be ISI/Army that will be responsible.

This is ridiculous. In the western world, maybe there would have been a series of CNN interviews on this and everyone would go home. In Pakistan, now people's lives are at stake. Also livelihoods if not lives, that show even if it was a crappy one, was employing people, and now if it's shut down, people go home, and they lost their jobs.
This is where the GEO CEO needs to come forth, admit he did stupid things, and that he has tax evaded and eaten up money from dodgy backgrounds, and say that he's not gonna promote political anti-state propaganda through his channel. But nope, I guess he likes all his cars and houses and bank accounts to actually do that.
And shaishta is just dumb - people need to really review show content before airing it! Although I don't think what was done, although maybe tasteless to many, is "blasphemy". No one is insulting Islam or Muhammad (SAW).
This blasphemy stuff is also getting out of hand. I mean if some mullah does something wrong in that country, you can't say anything because next thing you know you will be picked up on "blasphemy" charges.
In fact, I know this from first hand experience. An illegally built "mosque" now sits on property that is near to us in Karachi, and they have their speakers on LOUD and more than just for the azaan. They are on the speaker throughout the day, disturbing day to day activities, and now there is traffic in a previously private area by anyone and everyone with a long beard. No women are allowed in the mosque. And everyone is quiet about it, if anyone were to report that they are being a distraction to the environment, etc, there will be hungamay. No one can even read a book now in that neighborhood in peace, in fact even our namaazein we get distracted (ironic, right). But everyone is quiet because of the "blasphemy" law.
These mullahs get away with everything because of this law.

Geo's gone absolutely bonkers. They have gone deep into a self destructive mode. First, they pick up a fight with army and intelligence agencies, then they rabidly go after one of country's largest political parties, now they have stupidly turned the religious communities against them. I wonder who are they planning to piss off next with their vulgar audacity?
Really, even if PAMERA doesn't impose ban on them, they're most likely to get shut down due to extreme unpopularity.
The big guns at Geo should be losing their sleep now, if they weren't already.

How is it not GEO's fault? Any channel normally goes over the content of their telecast, and anything that might incite a crowd to go nuts, is usually carefully evaluated and contemplated before being telecast.
Maybe this qawalli has been played on other channels, but it doesn't seem that the qawaali is the main problem. Main problem that people are having is the dancing done to it, and that veena malik is the face tagged onto it.
Not that I have an issue with Veena, but the majority of Pakistan isn't like the West. They view her just like we would view the more heinous of porn stars, not the glam ones that live in the Mansion with HH, but the kind that do really nasty stuff. For them, Veena has that kind of a position, she's viewed as absolutely ghattiya. So Shaista and the GEO producers should have thought twice that especially in the current light of GEO being under fire, this episode may tip people off more.
Just a dumb move on the part of GEO, shows their producers are just careless.

The only other MODERATOR here was Muqawee. Who simply was explaining to me what this thread was about - since I hadn't watched video and had no clue what was happening. ZERO complaints against you too.
In fact, I was speaking in general. Overall there were some who were blaming GEO for NOT anticipating the nutcases' reaction. I was referring to them. I was Stating the problem is when folks make such concessions to the fringe elements that make society walk on egg shells. The first sentence of a post above mine from a lady I respect immensely was probably a catalyst in my using the term moderates. Should have used liberals cause she is one. But in this SPECIFIC issue her Stance was that of a moderATE.

According to the information that I have gathered so far, this qawwali is basically a manaqabat which is sung commonly on Shia weddings. I think it has been blown out of proportion due to hatred of geo.
