Re: last time you said I love you
This morning. Half asleep when I woke up for fajr and hubby was getting ready to leave for work. He was stuffing his mouth with a cold piece of toast because he was running late. I should probably call him. And my mom. I haven't spoken to her for 2 days.
To all the ladies who feel awkward; I can help by having you practice it on me. Go ahead, send me a pm, try it out, its not that difficult.

PS: oh and after that I called my wife and said “i love you too”. She asked me what too is for but then my cell phone signals dropped… ![]()
Re: last time you said I love you
Its kinda weird that people feel awkward saying I love you to their parents. There has to be nothing awkward about it but I think the upbringing which we pakistanis are brought up with, the word 'love' is taken in 'other' context or something that you never speak of in front of elders sigh

back in the day? I feel old....
I only say I love you to her when I am mad.....she laughs and my madness is gone....
^The initiation has to come from parents. Parents from previous generations were not very vocal in terms of expressing their love to their kids, so kids reciprocated the same way. That does not mean that love was not there, only the ways of expressing it were not so vocal.

If I tell my abba that I love him. He will slap me on the face. TLK is right. The previous generation was not much on expressing love.
Re: last time you said I love you
Every day a few times.

Re: last time you said I love you
Yup. No such concept existed when my parents were growing up for instance. I mean what do you say in urdu or punjabi to your kids? “I love you” just doesn’t translate right. But the things that my parents remember most fondly about their parents isn’t what they said, it was more along the lines of what they did with them. Plus it’s a lot more nicer to hear “mera chaand” or “meri shehzadi”, “meri puttri” from grownups, which isn’t restricted to my parents alone. I hear them from my mamoons and khalas as well all the time. Plus my dad calls me by a special nickname which only he’s allowed to use
So even though they don’t say it, and I don’t say it, I know for sure they love me immensely.

Why is it weird? I never said it, I have other loving nicknames for my parents that I say to them when I talk to them when I am in an affectionate mood. I think that compensates for it.
