^The initiation has to come from parents. Parents from previous generations were not very vocal in terms of expressing their love to their kids, so kids reciprocated the same way. That does not mean that love was not their, only the ways of expressing it were not so vocal.

If I tell my abba that I love him. He will slap me on the face. TLK is right. The previous generation was not much on expressing love.
