Laser Hair Removal

…particularly for the face.

Has anyone had it done or know a close friend/relative who has?
What were the results like?
How long ago did they have it?
Were there short or long-term side effects?
What were your feelings about it going in to the process?
What made you finally decide to get it done?
What was the most cumbersome aspect of the process?
How many times did you have to laser a spot before being rid of hair?
Where did you get it done? Would you recommend that place to others? Why (not)?

I know there are several old threads on this topic, but as the technology and personal experience is constantly changing, I’d love to hear some current responses.

Please share.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Hi sahar!
I have done some(three) laser treatments and I had too much hair and black hair(face). But after three treatments I dont have dark hair anymore. But the hair comes back after 4 weeks but its less then before. But the treatment itsnt so easy because it feel like having iron on your face.I didnt got any side effects either.
I would recommend especially if you have dark hair because it helps.
Otherwise my real reason was I cant use wax and thread, so it was the only way for me.I did the treatment in a laser clinic in scandinavia.

good luck
hinna.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

my friend did it and results are good and she is fine.
The hairs are getting lesser and she is still doing it.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Sahar, i had my 7th treatment this month i think. I had darkish facial hair and since i have acne prone skin, i wanted to avoid threading, bleaching, waxing etc. So far the results are ok. But the esth i was going to was using a lower strength, because of me being desi and having pigmented skin (its easier to get pigmentation and discoloration if you are darker).

Abt tolerating it, i think i handle it pretty well, per my esth. She says most ppl jump alot. It doesnt hurt but feels like a rubber band striking at your skin, esp if the hair is thicker at a certain spot or if the laser is being done on skin closer to the bone (eg the jawline). Rest, its pretty tolerable and doesnot hurt at all. I have never had any problems at all, Alhamdulillah.

I think its worth the money you spend on it. INstead of going to the salon every 2 weeks or so. I have considerably less chin/neck hair and that is what used to bother me the most.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

I just went for the first treatment last week. It does hurt, but so does waxing, threading, or using epilator so it's not something you can't take. Right after it was sorta puffy and red, which lasted only the first 15-20 mins.

The physician there said that for normal females if they get the lasar the hair shouldn't grow back and if you have a hormonal imbalance then you need to be on meds and do the lasar together. Even after that the hair might try to go back, but it's very fine and you just need to do touch ups every 4-5 months. I think it's worth it cause i'm sick of waxing. Plan to do the lasar on the face and start using epilator for body before I get married :-D

Re: Laser Hair Removal

I got laser hair removal on my face. Like the others have mentioned, it doesn't hurt very much, basically like a rubber band snapping against ur skin. It hurts worst around the time before your period, so try your best to schedule it after or well before. The pain is suddenly like 5 times worse. But the good thing is, it's very quick (over in less than 5 mins) and the results are completely worth it.

The first 2-3 times, facial hair will grow back in about 1-2 months, but it will be much lighter each time. After about 4 times, it decreases significantly, will come back about 3-4 months later, and should be gone by 6th treatment, if not sooner. I've had great results, but like Ira mentioned, since my skin is more olive, the lady didn't use the right power and i still need a few more sessions.

I definitely recommend it. Get it from a reputable place that has certified nurses doing the procedure. Good luck!

Re: Laser Hair Removal

My sis got it done. It doesn't hurt much and it certainly is better than threading and waxing. Well she got um done 3 times yet with a 6 months gap b/w each treatment. The hair as most of the guppans said it above me came back, but after her third treatment the hair didnt reappear. Its been a year now and shes delighted with the outcome of her treatment. I would recommend u to get it done, even tough its expensive but its all worth it.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

girls, please share the estimated cost as well so we know the price range etc. :-)

Hi Sahar!

Ive been having it done for the last 5 years. It doesnt completely go but its really good and i dont have to get it done too often. The best results were actually on my underarms. I dont hardly have anything now. It does hurt tho but the process is a lot quicker now than it was 5 yrs ago.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Aishak… try this site: www.citysearch.com, and do a hair removal search. Here’s also a link from that site: http://newyork.citysearch.com/yellowpages/directory/New_York_NY/200/484/page1.html

The recommendations are usually pretty good, and you can get a lot of info on what’s available too. gl

Re: Laser Hair Removal

For the girls who did their faces, did you have to shave the area before laser? Most lasers require clean shaven area and I am wondering if it is wise to shave your upper lips or side burns.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

I've heard you cannot wax/tweeze/thread for at least three weeks before laser. I think that would drive me mad. But I have been trying a skin buffer thing that removes the hair from the surface (sort of like shaving, but with a buffer, rather than a blade). I suppose that would be ok?

At the place that I asked about it, they said you should leave at least one day's growth before the procedure.

Re: Laser Hair Removal

is this hair removal something for men to try it out.????.:o

Re: Laser Hair Removal

the results are good

Re: Laser Hair Removal

hey my sister got it done, it burned her face a bit but then it got better--it actually improved her acne and she doesnt have hair! lol

Re: Laser Hair Removal

Personally its had great results with me BUT its not permanant. My beautican actually said that its not a permanant result but it reduces it a hell of a lot. In my experience-and ive been having it done for the last 5 yrs-its been good but i do still have to get it done just not as often.
