how many of u have got it done? have you got it done in paki? how has it been ever since?
I have heard of this new technology ni vision correction.. something to do with some eye drops it is being practiced in karachi? does anyone have more info in regards to this procedure?
Ooohhh - i wouldnt get it done in pak to be honest - no matter if they are trying out new technology or new eye drops - as one of my cousins had it done and after a year her eyesight went weak again.
I am wearing contacts and glasses at the moment - and im thinking of having it done in UK after the contract expires.
Korn - how much did it cost you and where in Dubai did you get it done?
^ Its quite expensive if you get it done in UK, I guess £1000 for one eye, My cousin got it done from Lahore (not sure if it was same eye drop thing) but shez fine with it and its been 2 years now
I've thought about it for a couple years now, so I can finally get rid of my contacts.
But working in a hospital, I've had the opportunity to interact with quite a few ophthalmologists and retinal surgeons, and nearly all of them wear glasses themselves. They explain it by saying that even the minimal risk associated with the procedure it too much for them, because their livelihood depends on them having perfect eyesight. But if the surgeons performing LASIK tend to consider it too risky for themselves, I'm a little hesitant to get it...
In any case, based on what I've seen in hospitals in the Subcontinent, I would advise against getting the procedure done in Pakistan. It really isn't worth it to risk your eyesight just to save a few hundred dollars.
I had it done with optical express, cost me £2300! (price depend on your prescription) There is NO chance of losing ur eyesight or nething, and it is such a easy procedure! u just go in, the proceduce takes 5 mins max, ur awake while it happens, then they ask ytou tro wait in the waing area few minutes then your free to go home. My vision improved instantly, and the next day i had BETTER than 20/20 vision without glasses!
For people like me who needed to wear glasses all the time, it makes SUCH a difference :D
There is NO chance of losing ur eyesight or nething, and it is such a easy procedure!
That's absolutely false.
The complication rate for LASIK is actually still relatively high. According to some reports, up to about 30% of patients have chronically dry eyes (the nerves responsible for tear production are severed, and don't heal very well), and about 20% report loss of night vision clarity after the procedure. They may not need corrective lenses anymore, but they have problems with excessive glare & haloing, and have trouble driving at night. Also, the flap that gets cut into your cornea NEVER fully heals, which can cause all sorts of complications as well. The risks are even higher if you have thin corneas to begin with and your doctor does the procedure anyways.
I'm not saying not to get LASIK at all, but you should still be aware of all the potential risks. It's utterly stupid to pretend that its completely risk-free.
