Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
I would love to have it done. Contact lenses are such a hassle, however, I am too much of a scaredy cat to have it done.

Hey, there was a thread on this not too long ago: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/health-fitness/309468-lasik.html

Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
One of my friend's uncle got it done and he never faced any problems afterward. Infact he is quite happy and satisfied....
I am personally thinking of getting it done but sadly my parents won't allow me....: (
I am moving this thread to health forum as it belongs there.
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
I just got it done last Thursday!! I already have 20/20!! Totally LOVING it. No regrets whatsoever!!
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
^ Wow. Could you share the experience with us? Did you experience pain? How long the procedure took etc?
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
My mom had it done about six months ago and she's super happy. I ll get the details from her and post them here.
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
My Aunt recently went through this..she says the experience was ok..nothing painful no itching. What exactly do you want to know about it Chicken biryani? :)
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
There are several different versions of the procedure.
I had Intralase with corneal mapping. Essentially, this is the least invasive and takes away the least amount of your cornea.
I was WAY nervous because - well, it my eyes!
Lol - but it's actually really easy and QUICK. It took them less than 5 minutes per eye to prep the eye and make the flap. (They used a laser to make my flap, but some procedures use a scalpel).
Then they move you to a different laser machine which takes about a minute and then..... you're DONE!!
The entire amount of time spent in the operation room was probably 20 minutes, this is including getting settled and stuff.
They put numbing drops in your eyes so your eyeball doesn't feel a thing. Then afterward, you're just supposed to try and sleep and keep your eyes closed for at least the next five hours.
I drove myself to the doctors for my post-op appt the NEXT day!! :)
Pretty much painless!

I was told people who have lasik done will most defenitely need reading glasses later on in life???? Did anyone else hear that? Is that true?

Thanks for sharing that infomation with us.
Where did you get it done btw, UK, America etc? Could you share the costs? :)
I am always seeing lots of ads' in Metro paper etc offering laser treatment for like 250 pounds or sometimes 299 pounds per eye. Anyone else seen those ads' in Metro papers, which they give out in London?
I got mine done in LA for about 2500 per eye (I needed both eyes so it was about 5k total).
This covers all post-op care however, and I chose a really well known surgeon and opted for corneal mapping etc which is a bit more.
Also - LA is generally more expensive. From what I understand, you can get lasik from a reputable doctor for about 1200 per eye in less expensive cities.
And I totally have NO regrets!! I've needed contacts/glasses since class 3 so to be finally rid of them is SO awesome!! :)
If anyone has any other questions, feel free to PM me.

Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
I have seen the ads in Metro too but i wouldnt go for them - maybe im jst weary!
Cost is going to depend on how weak your eyesight is. The weaker the more expensive its gonna be. My bro had a consultation in Harley St and his eye sight is as weak as 7.5 in both eyes - he was given around £4000. Way too much!
I want to have it done too but a really good friend of mine, her husband said there is 50-50 chance of sight going back to what it was. I am more than happy to invest that amount of money on contact lenses.

thanks guys for sharing your experiences .. my questions or rather fears are as follows :
is there any side affect of Lasik in later life? for example , we get it done once in our 30's and say our sight goes bad again by age 45 ... what happens then ? is the cornea safe or does the sight start declining fast ?
is it true that there is a 50-50 chance of the sight going bck to where it was after the Lasik ?
how come some of the Lasik doctors themselves havnt had it done ! I went to one a few months back and saw the doc wearing glasses .. that killed half my motivation !
so please help and let me know of your thought ... I particularly wanna know if you know anyone who has had it done like 8-10 years ago ? coz thats when most side affects of these things start showing up ...
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
I had laser surgery done 2 years ago. I have NO regrets. It just makes life easier... so MUCH easier. I am glad for this new invention! I love it.
It costs $3,600 for both eyes.
