I had mine done about 1 year ago - cost 2600 for both eyes. Didn't have any issues.

Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
hmm my mom had it done abt 3 yrs ago and its totally awesome.. but she does have problems when her eyes dry out due to excess heating in the car and she has to keep lubricating drops or tear-gel with her at times.. but overall its awesome.. i think in Canada most of the surgery is covered by the insurance.. havent gotten any info from my optician here in the US but im thinking it shud be around 3000 dollars for both eyes!
Hi C.B.!!
thanks guys for sharing your experiences .. my questions or rather fears are as follows :
- is there any side affect of Lasik in later life? for example , we get it done once in our 30's and say our sight goes bad again by age 45 ... what happens then ? is the cornea safe or does the sight start declining fast ?
All eyes change and degenerate over time. My sister had this surgery 5 years ago, and my boss 11 years ago and my father-in-law almost 20 years ago. In each of the cases, they all still have 20/20 vision. They do say that you may need reading glasses when you're in your 50's, but most people need this by age 50 anyway. And reading glasses are much better than needing glasses ALL the time. I have not heard anything about eye sight declining fast due to surgery at all! Especially with intralase, the cornea is minimally impacted.
- is it true that there is a 50-50 chance of the sight going bck to where it was after the Lasik ?
*No. The chances of your sight going back is WAY WAAY lower than 50%. *
*My doctor guaranteed improved sight. He just does not guarantee 20/20. My friend actually ended up with BETTER than normal vision (20/15). It just depends on how good your doctor is. *
- how come some of the Lasik doctors themselves havnt had it done ! I went to one a few months back and saw the doc wearing glasses .. that killed half my motivation !
*Maybe because they don't trust anyone but themselves to do a good enough job? *
*But I agree - if you're gonna sell, you gotta buy it first. My doc had his done! *
so please help and let me know of your thought ... I particularly wanna know if you know anyone who has had it done like 8-10 years ago ? coz thats when most side affects of these things start showing up ...
*I know people who had it done recently, as well as people going back 20 years. I know about 30 people altogether who've had it done, and so far no one has told me that they regretted it. *
*Dryness is the most common complaint, and it is easily addressed. *
*Hope this helps!! *
P.S. I'm hungry now!!! :p
CB-Ziya has answered your questions really well. I was going to say all the same stuff.
I just had it done in Canada a little over a month ago, and since then 2 of my coworkers have gotten it done as well......in fact my supervisor is going in tomorrow to have hers done.
Again there is absoltely no pain because your eyes are numbed before hand. Depending on your prescription the chances of you obtaining exact 20/20 vision isn't 100% and the doctors will tell you that, however many people have still obtained 20/20 or even better. I myself had a prescription of -6.5 and -7.0.....and I now have 20/20. Reading glasses are something completely different and like someone mentioned b4, many ppl tend to need readin glasses as the reach their 50s...it's common.
In terms of your presecription going back to the same as it was before you had the surgery.......the thing is that there is a chance of regression, and this all depends on how one's eyes heal (everyone is different). However, here in Toronto I was able to sign up for a life time warranty, which means that if I do regress then I am able to get surgery again. People have been known to get surgery again, but not as often as you'd assume.
All I have to say is that there is nothing to worry about in terms of the procedure it self......I would tell anyone who is absolutely sick of glasses or contacts to get the surgery done (if they have the money that is), but many ppl love their glasses and wouldn't opt for the surgery and I think that's totally cool too.
Re: Laser eye correction ... anyone?
Meandyou - so true about the glasses. After wearing it since childhood, I was so tired of them, I couldn't wait.
But now I find that I sometimes miss then. My glasses were very cute! :)
Also - I tend to miss it when I'm about to lay the smack down on someone. I think it made me look more severe. Hahhahaa.a.
But I would still totally get the surgery. I can always get glasses with no prescriptive lenses. :)
Ziya you can totally get a pair without prescription.......I have a pair, which I wear when I want to look a bit more sophesticated lol
Re: Laser eye correction … anyone?
The laser eye surgery is the right option for the for your eye and vision correction as in this treatment you fluids and dust is removed from your eyeballs and many eye vision center provide eye treatment.
