Lasagne sheets..

Even though i add them in when the water gets piping hot , they just stick to each other … I have even tried putting them in opposite direction individually .. but they just sort of stick to each other :smack:

someone told me to add a bit of oil to the water .. done that .. still no good

Any tips?

Re: Lasagne sheets..

You boil your lasagne sheets?

If you’re making lasagne and using those sheets, then you don’t need to boil them… you can use them just like that, whether they’re the dry kind or the fresh ones.

If you’re not using them for lasagne, then i guess you can boil them one at a time? :phati:

Re: Lasagne sheets..

do you put a pinch of salt in your water?

i usually do...and it works for most pastas!

I made lasagne yesterday... I read this tip here on GS.. i boiled them.. have a big bowl with cold water ready... Drain the water and put the sheets in the bowl with cold water.. didn't stick at all :)

Re: Lasagne sheets..

I never boil the sheets I just put some water in a bowl and let the sheets soften slightly and mine never stick - put them in to water individually and try not to 'pile' them on top of each other. Have you tried soaking them in slightly warm water rather than very hot water?

Alternatively get the sheets that don't need soaking - you just put them directly in the dish and they go straight from the packet to the oven.

There is a boil and no-boil ones.. I think the OP is using the boil kind.. That's what i use too.

Re: Lasagne sheets..

Thanks everyone , yeah I boil the lasagne sheets … it says on the packet that they can be boiled , but are ready to use .. the trouble is , when i tried lasagne without boiling the sheets , I found the sheets hard for my taste … I like to have a soft layered lasagne …

so eventually when i boiled them and made lasagne , everyone totally loved it .. it just totally melts in the mouth..

I do dip them in the cold water right after boiling them , to stop them from over cooking … dont get me wrong , they dont stick so bad that they cant be separated .. but still I thought there must be a way that the sheets dont stick when you put them into the boiling water …

Amor , i will try putting them in slightly warm water .. maybe i am adding them into hot boiling water :hmmm:

I use ASDA's own brand lasagne sheets. You don't need to boil them and you still get that melt in the mouth taste.

Make sure the water is not too hot and you par boil them, as opposed to cooking then through.

Re: Lasagne sheets..

Hmmm those are the ones i use too Dildi .. right i will try them differently this time … cheers mate :hugz:

Re: Lasagne sheets..

If you use enough sauce (both white and filling), you find the steam and the mositure from them are ample enough.

No worries:hugz:

Re: Lasagne sheets..

excellent , thanks mate , i will definitely do that …:lifey:

Re: Lasagne sheets..

I stopped using the kind that we have to boil a long time ago.
Use the ready to bake ones and just add extra sauce when layering. It will end up soft enough.

Re: Lasagne sheets..

I always add some butter to the water. They only stick if I dont take them out and use them right away, when I sit them sit they stick!

same… never heard of boiling. the water in the meat and the sauce should be enough to cook them.

try using the fresh pasta sheets, they are nommy and soft.

i made ones at home.do they require boiling too?

Re: Lasagne sheets..

hey could someone please put up a recipe for lasagne.

thanks

Re: Lasagne sheets..

awww how sweet u boil ur lasagne sheets :p

Re: Lasagne sheets..

I never boil the sheets even though it says to do so on the pack

Just make sure the sheets are fully covered by the sauce / mixture and you cant go wrong!

You can get pre-cooked ones also, but I think they are more pricey

Re: Lasagne sheets..

I never boil my sheets either, just make sure that there is plenty of sauce.

However, sometimes I have added a generous splash of hot water over the lasagne (around the edges) once it's all layered to add a little more liquid to make the sheets very soft. That works really well.

Re: Lasagne sheets..

hmmm... never boil them either
