with hyderabadis they can’t prononounce urdu alphabet Qaf…instead they pronounce Khaf

Qabil will become Khabil…

one hyderabadi alim sahab was talking about Qurbani and he said…Khoon ka Khatra gire to Khurbani khubul hojati…:hehe:

:cb: bengalis are so cute in pronouncing some words. I sometime wonder, instead of their association with Islam, normal Bengali Muslims got problem in pronouncing Arabic / Persian words

May be its an individual problem. Otherwise Balochs didn't get problem in pronouncing 'P'. Had it been the case, they don't have cities with name 'Pisheen' and heroes like 'Palay Khan' :)

I think majority Indian got this z/j problem, but again many people like singer pronounce it correctly like 'Zindagi main kabhi koi aaye na Rabba'

yes qalam (pen) is kalam... I heard once Lata was also taunted for her 'Sheen / Qaaf'. Later she improved her Urdu diction like anything and sung poetry of Ghalib (not Gaalib) brilliantly.

Nice and Funny. I have personally not had problems saying zameen or zindagi with the z pronounciation. Do you think many Indians don’t use Z because it is not a part of any Indian alphabet or alpha syllabary? :hmmm: As far as I know, U cannot write z words in atleast 2 S Indian langs. So even Zebra is written sort of like jeebra.
Bengalis use ‘Au’ or ‘O’ instead of ‘A’ .

ज़ As ‘z’ in zebra

This alphabet is different than ज As ‘j’ in jug

And lot of my hindu friends can pronounce zindagi properly…

in similar way some people confuse pronunciation of F and ph…like fool and phool

How do you say 3 in Sindhi? Te or Tray? People from Sehwan say it Te and make fun of people who say it Tray. They argue that there is no alphabet with sound Tr in Sindhi. Other side say that will soon include 53rd Alphabet in Sindhi :smiley:
