So id they say after update the battery problem was solved so it can be bad driver installation for motherboard support.
and that means?
i noticed another weird thing…
the taskbar battery icon keeps showing diff estimated time for the battery to run;
3hrs46mins 98%
2hrs 24mins 97% @ 3.29pm
4hrs 9mins- 95% @ 3.31pm
4hrs 3mins- 93% @ 3.37pm
3hrs 22mins-86% @ 3.49pm
SO something must be really messed up with this laptop :(. I want to kill Sony now. Funnily enough the vaio care that they so proudly have built in keeps showing battery performance as excellent. WTH. Means all these features they claim 2 be so proud of are all waste.

my battery had a similar prob…and it was fine for sometime jub battery nikal ke lagaya..but again i saw it

and even after i took off the adapter, the battery lite still keeps blinking in orange

well…have you tried taking the battery out pressing the reset button for few seconds approx 10-15 secs and than plugging it back on and than see if it is being charged properly?

Battery blinking.. I dont know but maybe it got damage due to electricity fluctuation as in Pakistan if you plug directly into wall socket without using any steplizer then be sure that it can get damage soon.
Although battery blinking means either battery got dead or something regarding the charging but I think its sure some battery or charging problem as of its indication.

I m nt trusting anyone here with my laptop Khol ke kuch aur hi kar denge :(.
I took the battery off day b4 yesterday cuz i charged it and wantd to use the laptop with adapter only. Wl take out the battery tomorow n chk if it makes any difference.
When its in warranty time then never try to repair or ask local shop to repair it.. if it has international warranty then I think Sony Vaio around your current location may be helpful for it. Although remember!! During warranty time, if you get your laptop or your electronics bought from sony repaied, you dont have to pay a cent (paisa) for it as it is within warranty unless you damage it yourself by breaking the screen or my putting it in washing machine.

its nt abt the money…i do have intl waranty too bt i dnt feel safe getting it chkd from a sony store here..dats precisely y i didnt buy the laptop frm here as i went to the store bt was nt happy with the service so yah.

Also, even now the orange light keeps flashing. Why is it so?

^^ no its not ok.
orange light keep flashing means it need to be charged. Charging mechanism is not working well.
Data darbar ke pass rehne se yeh hoa hai keh free main bahut kuch khaney ko mil jata hai LOL so thats why I said I havent told you, that you live near data darbar keh jo aap ne kaha hai keh money ki problem nahi I said it due to other reason.

Have you gone through the charging cycles?
Have you applied all the updates?
What background processes are eating up the system and in turn, the battery?
What OS are you running? Have you tried a lighter OS like Ubuntu for a netbook.
Did you nazar uthari for the laptop?

Yah i got this on 16th and have been using it regularly so yah gone thru enough charging sessions.

Yes Windows updates all done. Vaio Care updates done except one which is for some reason not going thru or maybe it wl take alot of time so i m gonna leave it on today.

Btw its windows 7 home premium if dats wat u askd, lol.
Sony E series laptop has known for its short battery, which is reported from 1:25 to 2:00 hours maximum.
Their is no problem with your system, if you want to have like 4 hours lets say.. then either buy a high capacity 6/8 cell battery or just get one more standard 4 cell battery.
Normal Charging time for laptop is 2/4 hours, depend on your model.
My Sony VAIO Z (office) laptop takes 1 hour & 45 minutes.
Sony VAIO Y (home) takes about 2 to 3 hours.

^ Ok. Though i dont think its normal for any laptop to take “4 hours” to fully charge BUT even if we put that aside, what about the constant flashing of amber light on my laptop?
First it was blinking along with the orange power indicator which according to the hardware guide means that The battery pack is running out of power. (Sleep mode). And now there is only the blinking light and no power indicator which again according to the manual means A battery error has occurred due to a failed battery
pack or an unlocked battery pack.
