Re: Landing into an arranged marriage would it work?
Girls born and bred outside Pakistan have issues marrying and moving back to Pakistan. One of the GS members Nadz123 is having problems adjusting in Pakistan. If you have problems to move to Pakistan, let your parents know about this. Perhaps they can convince the guy to move to UAE or they can reconsider their decision. If you have decided to marry that guy, do it willingly.
Re: Landing into an arranged marriage would it work?
case of nadz123 is different. she was raised in west. UAE is pretty much like pakistan. lifestyle is different but culture is still same.

Yes, but Palz seems to be moving to a much conservative city of Pakistan i.e Quetta. She might be afraid of this. Culture of UAE and Pakistan is pretty much same but what matters is the upbringing of the children. If a girl has liberal upbringing, she will have problem in adjusting to a family which is very conservative. Even girls from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad are reluctant to move to cities like Quetta and Peshawar since majority of the people there are conservative.

Quetta does not seem to be much pakistani. she should not land and better for her to find another airport.

But she already made a booking and already has a boarding pass with her (i.e. engagement has been done). She is also enjoying the eidi from her in-laws (I get to know all this from her threads in the wedding forum).
We should see her off and pray that she has a safe landing in Quetta :D
Re: Landing into an arranged marriage would it work?
My dear the culture is not the issue here. But livestyle with different choices is an issue. Interests experiences everything different. If you could just be in my shoes it would be clear enough.
p.s Not from a village lol
Oh ok, I see. I guess I assumed that you two are compatible and the issue was him moving to the UAE. I didn't know you might be moving to Pak.
Yeah let’s start one my mother in law - is such a… WAIT I don’t have one. Pheww!
Back to the problem in hand - depends you may just be panicking? Can you get to know him? This will ease your nervousness. Even if it’s few supervised phone calls etc. If you don’t feel this is right for you, will be able to say no?
Re: Landing into an arranged marriage would it work?
He studied dentistry, law and currently appearing for a CSS exam. Working as an Assistant Commissionaire ans in two years time will be promoted to the post of Deputy Comissionaire * dont really know what that job is all about* . His family is friendly all kool on that part but really out of fashion lol. He is from the same khandaan so know them pretty well.
So what conclusion do you come to? Good or bad?
Just out of interest....how old is he??
Re: Landing into an arranged marriage would it work?
Marriage is a gamble whether it's an arranged marriage or a love marriage. But when you enter something without getting to know the person......it's going to be an even bigger risk. At least that much can be said in response to your question......because none of us can really tell you whether or not this marriage will work out. But we can tell you.....and you yourself must already know this too....it's a bigger risk...hence the increased feeling of uneasiness.
Try to interact with him....face to face would be best. Give it some time...first few times might be awkward. And if after some time you feel that you both are not compatible at all.......(and it's only an engagement at this point)....then break it off. Much easier to end an engagement than a marriage. And just beause you've known someone all your life (or if they're from the same khaandan) doesn't necessarily make them a suitable life partner. Again, get to know him. That's the only way that you for you to ease your discomfort. Otherwise....asking us about whether or not we think something will work ....is just like playing guesswork and won't really help matters. It would have been better to get to know the guy before letting things progress to this stage...but it's still not too late.
Re: Landing into an arranged marriage would it work?
It seems to me that you already have a lot of doubts, so tread carefully.
