Re: Breaking News: Paramilitary Police clash with Lal Mosque idiots!
Here's another solution, that saves lots of lives, but is not doable because of all the 'conspiracy theorists' and politicians.
Govt. could announce that not a single more shot would be fired anymore. Curfew would be lifted but govt forces would maintain siege of the mosque. However, no advances will be made, and we'll all sit outside, and wait for them to surrender one by one, however long it takes. a months, 2 months, however long. Not a single life will be lost.
Musharraf could tell the conspiracy theorists and anti Musharraf elements to start covering the other matters that people think he is trying to distract them away from. Cover the CJ's case, the APC in London, and don't worry about what's happening at Lal Masjid.
this way, the whole situation could be resolved. However, unlike the other options, the onus would be on the conspiracy theorists and politicians. If they want, they can allow this situatino to resolve without further loss of life. Do they have in them? Do you have it in you, Abdullah K? moin-ul-atiq, cheguvera?
Re: Breaking News: Paramilitary Police clash with Lal Mosque idiots!
^^ that will never work...
if a siege is maintained, all the islamic radicals will start street protests and tell the government to lift the siege which will prolong the conflict. many pakistanis will get pissed at musharraf because he hasn't cracked down on these idiots....

Precisely my point. No matter hwo he approaches this problem, there will always be a certain faction in the country who'll criticize him, out of malice or ignorance not withstanding. That's why I suggested that the best we can do is to minimize losses, but not deter it from taking action and getting it done with.
Re: Breaking News: Paramilitary Police clash with Lal Mosque idiots!
well that wasn't unexpected.
I should have clarified though, i don't mean Saudi Arabia as a country or government, but their private organizations and individual donors. The Saudi government piped in money, with U.S.'s support to sustain the resistance against the Soviets, but private orgs and individuals have continued to send their charity money which buys them lots of religous experimentation in Pakistan.
As far as guessing my religious/sectarian background, I am not going to disclose it, but you'd be\ deadly surprised to know it if i did ;)
p.s; I am not goign to fix my typos anymore.. this has been a long week
well, still be extremely grateful to the Saudis. They have extended ample generosity to the government and people of Pakistan. But, such is the unthankful nature of many Pakistanis that seldom they let go the chance of spewing their hatred. That's OK doesn't make any difference..back to the topic..
Re: Breaking News: Paramilitary Police clash with Lal Mosque idiots!
Tariq sahab, this was not a warranted comment. Your intellect appears to be just as lop-sided as those retarded mullahs you are refering to. To you it seems anyone religious is your enemy.
Not all relegious people and not enemy. But I do strongly oppose anyone who cannot say clearly that country and people are more important than relegion.110pct of pakistan's problems are because of the morons who think or say that islam before country and people. These are the nuts who empower the jihadis and mullas. (Yes I know, don't correct me on the usage of jihadi- that word has been lost). So yes I repeat - army is selfish, isi is self serving, mullas have become evil and the people who cannot clearly and fearlessly say they and their country are more important than these are to be blamed a lot.Putting islam over country i! How many arabs support you?
Re: Breaking News: Paramilitary Police clash with Lal Mosque idiots!
Lets just let the Mullah come out and then place him in house arrest for the rest of his life.. Then the others will be arrested and go through the courts...

I thought I clarified it in my second post on the Saudi topic but let me rephrase again. Perhaps my generalization was too aggressive in my previous post so i am going to quality my comment.
Saudis have helped Pakistan a lot at both official and unofficial levels through financial as well as political means. There generous aid over the past few decades is well documented and visible, but I am also grateful to them for providing us political support in times of need. Saudis are an influential nation in teh world because of their oil reserves, and along with China, they have bailed us out on numerous occasion on world stage.
Having said that, there is a big problem of bigotry and extremism within Saudi Arabia. There aid for militancy that started with the time of Soviet invasion, took an unofficial and uncontrolled form later on. The aid we got from them, with the noble motives of establishing madarrasah to take care of poor kids in rural area, became the lifeline of militant movement in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Don't know which happened first, but the "Islamists" hijacked the marassah institutions and are now surviving on the money sent in by their financier in Saudi Arabia, who play their part in establishing an 'Islamic state" by sending money all over to support the militant causes. Unfortunately, this unsupervised flow of money is sponsoring all kinds of ills in our trial regions, and I have great resentment against the Saudis for allowing this to happen.
I hope this was a large enough qualification of my stance and my gratitude for their help in previuos decades is well documented.
