what are the numbers on
1) total people in the compound
2) number of supposed hostages in the compound
I am trying to figure out how many of the people there are in there willingly, because knowing these people they may just be saying hey we have hostages while overwhelming majority of the people are willing militants.
charging in situatiions like this could be stupid, hostages get used as human shields, if there are landmines or traps set up by the terrorists then military personnel die in scores.
What the events have shown is that these cockroaches in the compound have no balls, they will not fight till teh end, they will keep leveraging the hostages to find freedom for themselves.
as much as I hate waiting..I think it is the right approach. as far as his phone goes, unless he and people he is calling have some major scrambling technology, govt is listening in on all that he is communicating.

AAJ TV UPDATE: Terrorist are holding females and kids against their will. Reporter talked to one of the person who was able to escape out of MOSQUE told this. Reporter also talked to one of the parent who went into LAL MASJID to get his daughter. AS per father "I and other fathers went into JAMIA HAFZA and loudly called the names of our daughters. We were unable to see any person but a loud voice asked us to leave the premises when we hesitated, someone from inside JAMIA HAFZA fired a gun and bullet hit one of the father in the leg, so we all left"

what the Islamists must mourn is that their heroes, these ghazi gundas, have done irreparable damage to their own (fake) cause........and they keep makign it worse -- they are going to get arrested or die anyway, but prolonging it over half a week, taking people hostages, and exposing themselves as the terrorists that they are, they have killed the opportunity of getting sympathy from anywhere in Pakistan. I think you're right. Without isi active support and help from others in govt there's no way the mulla *******s could have come to this. Not limited to isi though. Also how parents of hundreds of kids not know this is going on openly inside? They are all complicit. Basically half the country is rdy to sell out to army and other half to mullahs

Tariq, with all due respect, I do not favor the approach of lambasting the Army or ISI as a matter of policy. They are not PEOPLE, who have personalities, and favorites. They are institution of the state, whose tactics change from time to time based on interests of the country. Sometimes they are misguided, but there's enough turn-over within these institutions that the complexion of the whole institution can change within a few years if not months, and it serves us no purpose to oppose them as an institution. However, we can, and must oppose their transgressions, when and if they occur, for example, their contempt for democractic transitions, lust for power, and lack of ability to control their own rabid, rebel agents.
