They did not have 6 months to prepare, and have a clear avenue of attack. They had to go through dense jungle, find the hostages, while avoiding hundreds of battle hardened rebels, drugged up to perform like invincibles.
SSG never had 6 months, more like a week. BTW they are not the only ones involved, their job is to be at the front then let others in like the "Elite Force" who took a few hits.
Jungle any time over a booby trapped, mined CQB. In a jungle you can still see ahead, use thermal imaging etc... in this mosque it's the case of who pulls trigger first after opening doors. What if the "brother" is hiding behind a young girl, got gun on her shoulder or something. Would you take a shot knowing full well the probability of taking a hostage is higher than militant.

Let's not call the SSG second class out of any inferiority complexes and the SAS superior just because of the gora factor...! Remember how the British Indian Army was strong because of the Gurkhas, Jatts, Sikh, Punajbis, Pathans(FF), Baloch, Bihar, Bengal, Deccan, Agra and Sindh regiments!?
The SSG took training from SAS because it was formed later. Even Israelis were trained by older elite squads!
Anyway, I dont care who's better, all I know is the SSG is no childs play and all elite forces have great respect for our SSG, SSGN as well as SSGPAF.

I will say that many SSG men will be puttar of Jatts, so there masculinity should never be understated.
