Aren't they?
May be they are. But seem to be struggling against them.

Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
big difference, SSG will use all its weaponry against a well trained army, but they are being extremely careful with these idiots. to save the lives of kids and woman.
Yes that may well be the case. However, SSG seem to be suffering losses themseleves - the exact numbers will never be known.

Before making such claims, I suggest you look at the facts -- hostage situation etc. -- before making judgements. Google "Waco" and "David Koresh" operation under Janet Reno in the States and look how it played out.
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
our khamooshi cha gayee...
waisay some ppl who were upset that there was no operation like 8 hrs ago, are missing now.
maybe sleeping, which i should do too.
It was 4am. I have to sleep.
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
I can never disagree with you!
Thank You
I am glad that this saga is finally over but we need a long-term action plan to address this growing problem of extremism within our society.

excuses. When groups like the British SAS were in similar situations, they achieved much more.
Sadly it seems years of unprofessionalism has effected even the once vaunted SSG :(
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
What I found scary was some mothers of kids in madrasa where singing praises for Mullah-Bonty-Burqa and Ghazi. Saying how he always fed the kids, whereas Gov starved them and that Ghazi is correct, had a "pious" dream that they will win this Jhang for Islam. With mentality like that I would catapult that ninja into the court yard so that her dream can be made half reality. Unfortunately I'm not running the country.

You cant really compare the operation where a few gullible, naive Iranians held the embassy hostage in London to these militants. They never expected to fight whereas these laloos came looking for a fight from the start. Attend training camps etc...

they fought an even harder hostage situation in the dense jungles of Sierra Leone, and in Iraq
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
Do they ever comment on operations, death toll? No. We dont even know ourselves what happened. I am sure even if the SAS where in this situation they would take casualties.

Harder in Sierra Leone? Where the enemy holding just 8 hostages (the exact location of all 8 was known before the attack began since they were all held in one small building) were the "West Side Niggaz", a bunch of drugged up teenagers without any formal military training?
And even against a bunch of drugged up teenagers the SAS suffered 1 fatality during the airborne assault phase of the rescue..
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
Morning... What is the latest? Any idea on the were abouts of Ghazi saab?

They did not have 6 months to prepare, and have a clear avenue of attack. They had to go through dense jungle, find the hostages, while avoiding hundreds of battle hardened rebels, drugged up to perform like invincibles.
Let's be realistic, not jingostic, nobody in the world compares the SSG to SAS,Israelis Commado's, etc.
This is the reason the SSG took training from the SAS, not the other way around, that fact speaks for itself.
Anyways....
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
The RealDeal, I have known a few SAS men and I have known a few SSG men, and I can tell you there is no difference in professionalism or the capabilities of the two.
Just because you read some glorifying fiction novels about SAS men doesnt mean that you know anything about the capabilities of the two.

Puttar Jatt da!
Re: Lal Masjid Siege Thread (merged)
On the respective merits of SSG and SAS, no one doubts that SAS are probably the best troops in the world, but this situation is a lot more complex then say the Iranian embassy siege. Here we have hundreds of women/children being used as human shields, against a enemy which is both well armed (Ak 47's, rockets, grenades) and well trained, some are specialist fighters.
To eliminate them AND keep collateral loses low is a complex task. Moreover, do we know if the dead have all been SSG, perhaps Rangers etc?

Exactly danny!
excuses. When groups like the British SAS were in similar situations, they achieved much more.

The reason is still what danial stated above. They went all out without any sympathy. While our SSG right now is being highly sympathetic for the criminals as well as the many held against will or whatever out of govt and higher command policy at the moment. In that too we need to thank them that they chose to take risk and took the route tougher for them. It takes more than a pair taking risk for a job that can be done with indiscriminate rockets or gunship attacks! Its them who made the sacrifice yet again agreeing to opt for the tougher method, because for the criminals, the end will be the same, it's the SSG who's risking it so least lives and limbs are wasted on the other side without regard for their own side. Can the SAS etc make such choices this easily...? Seems they chose the option safer for them usually...

you probably expect me to prove that to you, as if i have a need to:hehe:
my statements come from experience, unlike yours which reek of the smell of where they have been stored.
