Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

To listen is one thing, I support consensus building, but to have mullahs in power is quite another.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

That includes power sharing, where they'd form part of a coalition.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

No one is turning the country into a whore... Only in the mind of a paranoid relgious fantic.
You look around today and see "whores" everywhere... I look around and I see a normal conservative society. All I ask is that you respect the others peoples RIGHT to live as the wish to live.

My loyalty is to a country tat believes in human rights, and liberty... This govt has allowed that to some degree... Religous fanatics on the other hand would see us all beholden to their narrow interpretation of Islamic law.

A liberal would say that Pakistan should allow its citizens to interpret their beliefs as they see fit. If that means wearing a burqa then so be it.. If that means wearing western styles and behaving (within limits) as a liberal then so be it..
But do not dictate to anyone how they should live their lives... Is that to much to ask?

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

Listen to the Mullahs, fine... But draw the line at these Lal Masjid fantics... There is a difference between Mullah diesal and those at the Lal Masjid. One is threatening suicide bombings and are of kidnapping anyone they see as unislamic.
Big difference between the two.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

lol

s**t, my apologies general saab

ok you liberals win

but you need to think of a resting place for the izzatdaar

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

a choice which pakistan as an ............... republic should discourage

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

What are you trying to say, that liberals have no izzat? Thats percisly the twisted extremist logic that we are trying to combat. Its offensive to say the least.
I have extremely izzatdar friends and family who dont go around frequenting whore houses, who dont have a problem with women in Burqas, who pray regularly atleast twice if not five times a day...
But neither do these people feel threatened by TV shows, or cd shops etc. They dont take it upon themselves to close down what they consider unislamic. They dont go around inspecting and harassing innocent people... Such traits being akin to the extremist elements of our society.
How many times have you heard of extrmeists harrasing married couples apearing in public... They actually beat up a guy in Lahore University because he was seen with his wife. Hopw many times have you heard of burqa clad women harassing women who dont wear the burqa in public, somthng that has happened in Pakistan... This is you "izzat." Gimme a god damn break!

We can all do without people like you defining who is or isnt izzatdar. Your izzat is your izaat, but dont tell me what izaat should mean to me.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

liberals will diminish izzat

its a foreign philosophy not suited to pakistan

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

abay share oye....selfish insaan!!!!

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

Why should it discourage choice? If the case from the Islamic perspective is strong enough, it will win out in a free and open debate. If not, let us embrace justice.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

:D :D :D :D :D

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

I am not talking about an avergae woman without 'burqa' as whore, I am talking about opening casinos, wine shops for the commons, the next thing would be strip bars, brothels and what not.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

well the more choice is offered the more choice will vary. islam will not win out in present day pakistan. they'll be no callapse either just a gradual tide away. the educational system has failled the pakistani people, the bollywood influence is very strong. its about a calm strong conservative base, an assured footing

go on then, hit me with the punchline. sorry sarcism detector failled yesterday

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

the purpose of these lalmasjid guys stops and starts at highlighting some of the issues they have already done. this is no future government or anything like that.

however for pakistani politics sake the central government must reclaim their title as the upholders of islamic morals. the easiest way is to strenghten the police service and other instituitions to enable them to carry out the duties they are already supposed to be doing.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

You said turn Pakistan in to a "whore house." cant easily defend that.
I never said we should open casinos, your again putting words in my mouth...
I also never said we should open wine shops, although I will go on record as saying that I think regulating liquor which is already freely available in Pakistan is better then an all out ban.
And I have no intrest in strip bars and most sane people wont want anything like that in Pakistan, infact you wouldnt want to live near one in a western country either...
Brothels already exist in Pakistan, but by making Pakistan liberal doesnt mean we open more brothels... We arent the Netherlands where such things are legal..
This is a Pakistan, and people, even the die hard liberals wouldnt want brothels popping all over the country.
Pakistani society already has high standards of morality, and relgioun or not, Lal Masjid brigade or not, no one in Pakistan is advocating brothels or strip joints..
Its just the paranoid delusions of overly religous people who think that Pakistan without such moral police is headed for such vices... That complete nonsense!

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

Problem is that some of the religous people will never be satisfied...
Its a slippery slope...
For example, the mixed marathon... Many people have no problem with it and they say there is nothing unislamic about it..
On the other hand, religous extremists are offended by it and are willing to use force to undermine it..
You have Lal Masjid brigade saying CD's are unislamic, but then what about the vast majority who say its not..
Point is, who defines what Islamic... The Lal Masjid? The Taliban?

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

When did I suggest/quote you saying opening casinos/wine shops? I was mainly referring to Bhutto era.

Who is talking about people of Pakistan? I am talking about 'liberal' politicians of Pakistan, politicians are elected on different promises while they carry out their own agendas when (s)elected. I doubt people voted Bhutto in to open casino/nationalize industry etc but thats what he eventually did.

Just to make it clear, by bringing up 'whore' issue I am not suggesting rule of Pakistan by mullahs, to me those are whores of other kind :D, and no I am not paranoid of that nature, I only look at past and analyse our current society to see what might be coming our way, you may call it delusion if you think it that way.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

In my opinion, if someone threatens of suicide bombing, he is a dangerous criminal and should be sent to mental institute if not a jail, nobody can defend Lal Masjid fanatics.

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

detector is over worked today

Re: Lal masjid/ISI drama: 5 Chinese kidnapped

Chalo, rest assured, that even with liberal parties at the helm, you wont be seeing any whore houses, no gambling, and no whine in Pakistan... Despite the fact that tv shows more and more of what some people might consider explixit or even unislamic, Pakistan is never going to be turned in the Netherlands or Las Vegas.
Although all these things exist today, most of that has been going on for centuries even before Islam came to this part of the world...
How old is Heera Mandi I wonder?
At least its underground.
