plus dinn someone just recently say that these guys were in partnership with govt. so if that is the case then they cooked this up together :)
they are partners with govt when its in people's interest to say that, and they are not when its ine people's interest to say that, which one is it :D
people judge the govt. by its action. when it deploys more police to hang around a protest against the masjid and virtually cedes authority to a cleric, questions will be asked. Especially given military's track record of cozying up to the mullah's.

FOL- but the wroting is on the wall. when soemone with 22000 madaaris (not madaris btw that means shondaybaaz ya circus ka nut) at their disposal, which means what probably a couple of million current students and a few times more 'alumni' then you have to take actions carefully.
If there was some action against the lal masjid lafangas early on, and as a result psycho mullash went on a rampage in cities (which is something they are very good at) then we would be discussing govt's shortsightedness and not looking into what their actions could cause. As I said its a case of damned if you do damned if you dont.

Well, the Ahmadis havent threatend suicide bombings or kidnapped policemen... But if it makes you happy, then why not... We shouldnt have any relgion left in Pakistan once im through with it:)

Yeah, very limited options for Musharaf... But if he really wants to show his good intentions, then he has to take the bitter pill..
That includes, backing down on the CJ issue one, and taking on the masjid walas two... Even if it means his own scalp.

They not only take on the task of enforcing laws that already exist, they make up their own draconian laws based on their own twisted understanding of relgion and then go around enforcing them!
Case in point, their dislike of cd and music shops, and im sure they will have other gems aswell if given the oppurtunity...

btw prediction
govt does a show of force..lal masjid postures, dialogue opens, a comprmise is reached. Musharraf shows it as his mastermind approach to resolve teh conflict, mullahs avoid destruction of illegal structure and get a suburban campus as well.

I prefer to be kidnapped, pampered and *mis*handled by the Lal masjid ladies than the ISI goons. I am told hostages r well taken care of.
