SMMA59, I think you are missing the point some of us are trying to make. There is nothing wrong with Quranic recitation or worshipping on the Lailtul Miraj however the way you have quantified it i.e. certain Surahs, certain number of rakat have no religous significance or standing according to Quran and Ahadith.
Dr. SF, I don't know if you are actually Dr. Sufi who also comes on this forum but your viewpoint is on a tangent with the discussion. The point of objection the arose on this thread is that we should not promote relgious rituals which have no ground in the proper religous texts.
Innovations always start this way, when people stop opposing it, it slowly creeps into our daily routines until no one disputes it either because they don't care or lack the knowledge for it.
I do not see anything wrong with someone who wants to pray a few extra rakat or receite some Quran in this night but to propose it as a recommendation is what becomes objectionable.
When an action is recommended between any two actions then it implies that the recommened action is superior in some way to the other one. If what SMMA59 stated is recommended then it should also be known by whose recommendation. If Allah SWT recommended this then it should be in the Quran, if the Prophet SAW recommended it then it should be in the hadith. SMMA59 so has not produced these references to prove that it is a recommendation. If scholars recommend it then there should be a daleel with evidence rooted in the Quran or Sunnah.
Now if I recited all the other remaining Surahs apart from what SMMA59 mentioned and prayed more rakat than he mentioned would that be inferior to this recommended act. A recommendation basically puts at par something compared to the other.
This is very simple to understand and not complicated. People should understand the consequences of their actions because those actions are recorded and will be produced before them on Judgement day and they will have to be explained.

the fact is i do not agree with you in this matter but i respect difference of openions and also say thanks for discussing in healthy atmosphere. Brother i performed my duty by telling you the proper way to celebrate shab e miraj but there is no compulsion is islam. i do not force you to follow what i said. you can also consult any muslim scholar on this topic. i have ref from history and islamic books for this practice but there is no use of giving as we muslims are divided in 73 sect and seventy theree(approx) hadith and ref, so from my side this is the end of this discussion.
I am also happy that we did not exchange any unpleasantries as many guppies here are accustomed to. Discussions like these should be meant to bring out the truth. Sometimes I feel many guppies here no matter how knowledgible discuss to win an argument or personal victory and not because they want the truth to come out of the discussion. Truth in itself is a victory in my perspective.
Before you end this discussion I would appreciate it if you mentioned the references for my further knowledge pursuit as there is nothing wrong in it and I am not looking forward to having a discussion about those references, I will read them myself and infer what ever I need to. Would you be kind enough to pass on the references. Jazakallah. Shukriya.
How about you provide a hadith to prove what you're saying, instead of asking us? We've already stated that there's no hadith to prove that Miraj night was during month of rajab and particularly on 27th rajab and no special ibdah has been told.
