There is this strange phenomenon with Sub-continent where majority population used to be / is vegetarian (shaka-hari), the popular dishes are non-veg (as mentioned in the title).
Even for Sindh, which remained dominantly vegetarian even after arrival of Islam (not talking of upper class which doesn’t represent majority), the most popular dish in non-Sindhi people is Sindhi Biryani.
How do you see this observation? Are there some veg dishes more popular than non-veg items, which represent cuisine of any particular area (in sub-continent)… I mean some sabzi, daal dish that is equally popular as these Chargha, boti and biryani.
yaaraa, non vegetarian dishes are mostly popular among non vegetarians…Hindus don’t eat meat in India. it’s only a recent phenomenon that a very very small [negligible] number of Hindus have started eating meat.
