Lahore vs. Karachi

Re: Lahore vs. Karachi

One feels welcome where he/she can speak the laguage and can relate to the people. Lahoris are known in the whole of India-Pakistan for their hospitality and sincerity. In fact, they are too seedhay and khullay dil walay. If we start finding points of clashes than it can go the other way too. Karachiites have been very smart and sharp, also cuz majority were in the government jobs due to Karachi being the Capital. In fact, when the capital moved to Islamabad, so did majority of Karachiites and that’s why the main language spoken in Islamabad is Urdu and they used to look down upon Punjabi speaking as being peindoo. So if u start raising bad points, both sides can dig up plenty and can almost have a war.

The reason you feel welcomed in Karachi is because it’s ur parents’ place. I went to Karachi but did not get that feeling, though I enjoyed the different culture of Karachi. I went to Lahore for the first time when I was 15 and just by hearing the familiar language around, everyone going oye oye :cb: I felt at home and of course felt welcomed too. People spoke to me as if I was an insider. Or maybe cuz it was my parent’s place and we have all of our relatives there.

I went to Peshawar and Quetta and felt pretty intimidated, not seeing hardly any women around but when I met with different people, they were so hospitable, almost like possessive. Simple, but quite emotional crowd.
