میر تقی میر جب لکھنؤ چلے تو ساری گاڑی کا کرایہ بھی پاس نہ تھا۔ ناچار ایک شخص کے ساتھ شریک ہوگئے تو دلی کو خدا حافظ کہا۔ تھوڑی دور آگے چل کر اس شخص نے کچھ بات کی۔ یہ اس کی طرف سے منہ پھیر کر ہو بیٹھے۔ کچھ دیر کے بعد پھر اس نے بات کی میر صاحب چیں بجبیں ہوکر بولے کہ صاحب قبلہ آپ نے کرایہ دیا ہے۔ بے شک گاڑی میں بیٹھے۔ مگر باتوں سے کیا تعلق! اس نے کہا۔ حضرت کیا مضائقہ ہے۔ راہ کا شغل ہے باتوں میں ذرا جی بہلتا ہے۔ میر صاحب بگڑ کر بولے۔ کہ خیر آپ کا شغل ہے۔ میری زبان خراب ہوتی ہے۔ لکھنؤ میں پہنچ کر جیسا کہ مسافروں کا دستور ہے ایک سرائے میں اترے۔ معلوم ہوا کہ آج یہاں مشاعرہ ہے۔ رہ نہ سکے۔ اسی وقت غزل لکھی۔ اور مشاعرے میں جاکر شامل ہوئے۔ ان کی وضع قدیمانہ تھی۔ کھڑکی دار پگڑی، پچاس گز کے گھیر کا جامہ، اک پورا تھان پستولیے کا کمر سے بندھا، ایک رومال پٹڑی دار تہہ کیا ہوا اس میں آویزاں، مشروع پاجامہ، جس کے عرض کے پائیچے، ناگ پھنی کی انی دار جوتی جس کی ڈیڑھ بالشت اونچی نوک، کمر میں ایک طرف سیف یعنی سیدھی تلوار، دوسری طرف کٹار، ہاتھ میں جریب، غرض جب داخل محفل ہوئے تو وہ شہر لکھنو ، نئے انداز ، نئی تراشیں، بانکے ٹیڑھے جوان جمع، انہیں دیکھ کر سب ہنسنے لگے، میرؔ صاحب بیچارے غریب الوطن، زمانے کے ہاتھ سے پہلے ہی دل شکستہ اور بھی دل تنگ ہوئے اور ایک طرف بیٹھ گئے، شمع ان کے سامنے آئی، تو پھر سب کی نظر پڑی۔ بعض اشخاص نے سوچھا! حضور کا وطن کہاں ہے؟ میرؔ صاحب نے یہ قطعہ فی البدیہہ کہہ کر غزل طرحی میں داخل کیا:؎ کیا بود و باش پوچھو ہو پورب کے ساکنو

How can you compare rulers with occupied people?
Can you imagine that a police Thug with bunch of other police thugs goes to Raiwand without any female in the squad, invade Jati Umra (even though that policeman is not from Jati-Umra), arrest and handcuff Nawaz Shareef and Shahbaz Shareef, then take them to police station … on pretext that there is FIR of Murder against them (Model Town killing FIR) and they have not taken any bail on that FIR murder charges (what is true too, they have not taken bail on Model Town killing)?
Can you imagine that a policeman arrests Imran Khan and TUQ, as their is FIR against them too and they have not taken any bail?
Every city has local police, but in Karachi, 90 percent of police are from outside Karachi, and treat people of Karachi like slaves. They have no connection with Karachi other than earning money, and they do that, using whatever means they can.
Most government servants in Karachi (local or federal), they leave Karachi when retire. Even if they die in Karachi, they do not bury their dead in Karachi. So, one can work out their attachment or commitment with Karachi other than making money in Karachi even if it means doing atrocities on local population.
Well, in Karachi, if a policeman wants then he can concoct an FIR against a person who would not even know for years. That FIR could even be result of personal enmity or whatever unmentionable reasons (like, not giving rushwat to that policeman, someone bribed a policeman to register FIR because of personal reasons, maybe neighbour wanting to grab property or goon wanting to tease someone’s daughter, could be worse, etc) and thus, when that policeman wants, he can raid the residence (no need to even take women force while raiding someone’s house), put handcuff and arrest the person without even showing arrest warrant even when asked.
Worse is that, under arrest, policeman can torture that person for months, making that person confess anything, and when presented to court and if that person is fortunate to get released from court, nothing can happen to the policeman (as he is policeman of occupying force, so is entitled to do all this, and immune from punishment).
This is Karachi under occupation.
Funny thing in Karachi is that, people vote are not even accepted if their occupiers do not like, and thus people (I mean, occupier) can get punished for their voting.
Surprisingly, if occupied population of Karachi votes people occupiers do not like, than they make propaganda that people are forced to vote in this way.
Well, if anyone thinks that MQM is forcing voters to vote them, than make voting procedure transparent and fool proof instead of making such accusations. Ideally, voting procedure should be transparent and fool proof all over Pakistan. So no need to accuse party or voters.
Fact is that, me and my family is living in Karachi since 70 years. I was born in Karachi and still have property and investment in Karachi worth 10s of millions, visit Karachi almost every year or two. In my experience, no political party ever done anything good for Karachi, except MQM, and that is why people vote them … regardless of someone like that or not.
MQM as party is always there to share problems with voters, regardless of they are in power or not. Their offices, same offices occupiers are demolishing, stays open day and night to hear from voters and help them. They also help many poor finding food, shelter, clothing and medical treatments. I personally know a heart specialist working in USA, who visits Karachi every year in winter to do free heart angioplasty (he was/is in MQM even today). He supplies stent free for the purpose that he brings from USA, and MQM do other arrangements free. Plus, I know many poor who get free medical treatment and help with living from MQM.
So, all wet dreams of other parties winning Karachi through ballet is impossible, at least at present. Only way for these parties is to occupy Karachi and make people of Karachi their slaves, what they are trying their best to do.

In Karachi, the so-called educated class whi elect their representatives on the basis of ethinicity and color…the city should suffer…
Karachi was great city…destroyed by non other but the people and its representatives…

If you are Saraiki , Punjabi , Sindhi , Baluch , Pakhton , Kashmiri , Gilgiti , Balti ,Brohi , Riasti , Pothohari etc etc , What the name can be given to them , they are not from a limited are , whole India

Karachi… LG are not getting their rights… Sindh Gov’t is doing all local stuff instead of invest their time in legislation…

Local government can not function… All of the waste mgmt.. and related local department are still in Sindh Gov’t control..
Provincial gov’t should work on making law ..

Incorrect comparison… there are two types of “mohajirs”, one who were forced to call themselves mohajirs (immigrated from India as result of partition) and the other type who moves from within Pakistan mainly for economic / education reasons. People who moved as result of partition call Karachi their home-town and treat is as such, whereas people who moved from i.e. Mardarn, Lahore, Faisalabad do not consider it their home-town, they continue to think their leaving-town as their hometown, they do not take ‘ownership’ of the city and treat it as trash.
PPP has ruled the province for last 45 years, Karachi saw MOST development during Mushy era when development funds were provided to projects, otherwise only ‘needed’ funds were released once in a while. KMC was not as functional before (it did work, not saying completely dysfunctional), it did good job during Mushy time. Why? because provincial government released funding properly to all departments, all projects etc.

All 44 years were not fully under PPP… lets minus 11 and 8 years out of that … 44 - 19 = 25 years. In 25 years what does PPP have to show 4? Oh wait, PPP does not have anything to show for in Larkana, why would they work on a city which did not vote for them.

And in Lahore they are? LG operaations are non existent in Punjab. Its a one man show. Yes Lahore is good, but there are other cities in the province as well.
