The major problem with Karachi is that smaller cities in Sindh have never been developed. The second largest city, Hyderabad is in a terrible shape. The result is that people from all over migrate to Karachi. Smaller cities in Punjab are not completely eaten up by landlords and politicians, reducing a bit of pressure from Lahore in terms of migration.

In terms of infrastructure, both Lahore and Karachi are similar. The situation with water is worse in Karachi and with electricity in Lahore. Other than that, things are pretty much similar.

I don’t like the term ‘Muhajir’. I prefer Sindhi or Urdu-speaking.
The word ‘Muhajir’ is alienating. If we have nowhere else to go then nobody is ‘Muhajir’. We now belong to this land.
All my relatives are now buried here, and I will be buried here as well.

How can you compare rulers with occupied people?

The first sentence of the post said that this is going to be full of victim complex and you proved it upto the end of it.

Every city has local police, but in Karachi, 90 percent of police are from outside Karachi, and treat people of Karachi like slaves. They have no connection with Karachi other than earning money, and they do that, using whatever means they can.

Are you sure with bold part? Does Larkana, Sukkur have local police? What about Islamabad police?

I myself want that local population of Karachi (now this is not limited to Urdu speaking population). Be it Sindhis, Balochis, Pathan and Paunjabis living in Karachi for decades should get an opportunity to be part of police and other departments. But always crying for outsider is SICK. Remember, Urdu speaking were also outsiders to Karachi just 7 decades back and there is history of Urdu speaking bureaucracy not only in Karachi, but all over Pakistan, at least upto 80s.

Most government servants in Karachi (local or federal), they leave Karachi when retire. Even if they die in Karachi, they do not bury their dead in Karachi. So, one can work out their attachment or commitment with Karachi other than making money in Karachi even if it means doing atrocities on local population.

Had there been a free movement between Pakistan - India, we would have seen same sentiment of getting buried in homeland India. Even after three generations, don’t we hear terms ‘hum Delhi walon main ye’, ‘Hum Bihariyon ke han wo’ type nostalgia in generation which was born and brought up in Karachi. Karachiwala becomes Karachiwla when he / she is outside Karachi. Just getting buried in the city does not show ownership of the city Its just lack of option. I’m astonished at audacity of supporter of Altaf Hussain even after when he said ‘Partition was blunder’ followed by "Pakistan Murdaabad’ and that too by demeaning the outsiders. SICK.

Funny thing in Karachi is that, people vote are not even accepted if their occupiers do not like, and thus people (I mean, occupier) can get punished for their voting.

Surprisingly, if occupied population of Karachi votes people occupiers do not like, than they make propaganda that people are forced to vote in this way.

Well, if anyone thinks that MQM is forcing voters to vote them, than make voting procedure transparent and fool proof instead of making such accusations. Ideally, voting procedure should be transparent and fool proof all over Pakistan. So no need to accuse party or voters.

Fact is that, me and my family is living in Karachi since 70 years. I was born in Karachi and still have property and investment in Karachi worth 10s of millions, visit Karachi almost every year or two. In my experience, no political party ever done anything good for Karachi, except MQM, and that is why people vote them … regardless of someone like that or not.

MQM as party is always there to share problems with voters, regardless of they are in power or not. Their offices, same offices occupiers are demolishing, stays open day and night to hear from voters and help them. They also help many poor finding food, shelter, clothing and medical treatments. I personally know a heart specialist working in USA, who visits Karachi every year in winter to do free heart angioplasty (he was/is in MQM even today). He supplies stent free for the purpose that he brings from USA, and MQM do other arrangements free. Plus, I know many poor who get free medical treatment and help with living from MQM.

So, all wet dreams of other parties winning Karachi through ballet is impossible, at least at present. Only way for these parties is to occupy Karachi and make people of Karachi their slaves, what they are trying their best to do.

And the loyalty with traitor continues…

It’s time no more money is spent on these two cities, and instead funds are diverted to smaller cities, to help them get more trade and industry. Otherwise population influx will continue. Same is true of Pindi. Lahore and Pindi have also become similar to Karachi in population mix, with huge pashtoon and seraiki populations.
