Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line

Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line

Without going into a long winded reply, I will say only that Democratic institutions take time develop. The solution to a “broken” democratic system is to fix the system through democracy itself… The reason that there is so much corruption, nepotism and other issues is because the political system has never been allowed to mature. Repeated military coups have helped create, and facilitated, existing problems within the political system.

PPP was once the biggest political part, and they are also monarchical and feudal.. But now they get no votes outside of rural Sindh. If the PML fails, and fails on its own merit, then they to will be sidelined.

There is no such thing as a genuine Democracy, and none are ever perfect. Electoral rigging has to be proven… That hasnt happened. Middle East is a mess today. Pakistan, while it may not have always been a Democracy, and there have been dictators, has always retained the underlying affinity for democracy.

I see Pakistani institutions evolving and improving. People are more politically aware. The supreme court is probably more independent today then ever before in Pakistan’s history. NAB, 18th amendment, NFC, recent local elections… all signs that things are moving in the right direction.
Patience in this case is whats needed. 60 plus years of bad habits take time to outgrow.
