I was in Lahore in February 1990 - during the Hockey World Cup and I still miss the fruit chat outside the stadium.
And then I was there in October 1991 for about 10 days and stayed in old Anar Kali and roamed around Lahore's historical places.
My last visit was in 1995.

I was there for 3 times. First time in 1997 with family in summer vacation. Due to hot weather, we only stayed there for 2 days and visited only Data Darbar, Minar e Pakistan, Shah Masjid (Not Shahi Qila, because when we reached there Qila was closed), Shalamar Garden and Sozo Park (I hate that Genie because due to this I got Sun stroke and we had to leave Lahore) without visiting other places.
We also visited Mochi gate for buying ‘Moti choor ke laddoo’ 
At that time there were many tangas in Lahore and we enjoyed traveling through them.

I’ve seen some tangas near Burns Road / Urdu Bazar Area and Victoria Buggies near Clifton.. But you’re right that Tangas have not been used as a mean of transportation in Karachi since many decades.. Although in 70’s there was this famous song for Ghoda Gadi and karachi:

Ok good, in Lahore there’s everything from tangas to gadha garri’s etc but that creates a lot of problem while driving.

Gadha Gadi's are also common in areas like Joodiya Bazar.. Even you can see oont gadis in some of the areas of Lyari like Chakiwara, etc. From Lyari, I remember there is also a Tanga stand in Kharadar near Imam Bargah.

In my 2nd trip during December 2003 (on official assignment), I alongwith office colleagues stayed in Lahore for 2 days. During that stay, we visited markets like Liberty, Anarkali (also went to Food street and Phajje de paye).. We also went to Liton Road ( a narrow market), there we had ice cream (we were told that its famous all over Lahore) and bought some dry fruits.
I enjoyed my third trip in 2005 more.. again on office assignment (this time alone) and I got chance to visit Shahi Qila, Ranjeet Singhs Samadhi alone.

Ok! The population has basically exploded over the past few years, and lot of traffic on the roads. I guess the whole city needs to be re designed now.

I only heard about these 3 (3,11, 13) and visited Mochi Darwaza only.

Lohari, Delhi, Mochi, and Sheranwala gate are more famous.

Bhati Gate

The entrance to the “Bhati Gate” is located on the western wall of the old city. The area inside the gate is well known throughout the city for its food. Just outside of “Bhati Gate” is the Data Durbar, the mausoleum of the Sufi saint Ali Hajweri (also known as Data Sahib Ganjbaksh). Every Thursday evening Naat reciters and Qawawals (who perform Qawwali) gather here to reciteNaat and perform religious Qawwali.
Delhi Gate

The “Delhi Gate” was once the main and only road that led from Lahore to Delhi. The gate was built during the Mughal era. Although the gate suffered greatly in the 1947 riots, it has since been renovated and today is in its former glory.
Kashmiri Gate

The “Kashmiri Gate” is so named because it faces the direction of Kashmir. Inside the gate, there is a shopping area called “Kashmiri Bazaar” and a girls’ college. This college, built upon an old haveli belonging to a shah, is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture.
Lohari Gate

The “Lohari Gate” is very close to “Bhati Gate.” Like many other gates, it was built to keep enemies out. Although it is now surrounded by shops and stalls, it still has great architectural significance. In Urdu, loha means “iron,” and the gate is named Lohari because many lohars (blacksmiths) workshops were based just outside this gate.
Roshnai Gate

The “Roshnai Gate,” also known as the “Gate of Lights,” is located between the Lahore Fort and the Badshahi Mosque. As the gate was one of the main entrances into the city, it was constantly visited by Omerahs, courtiers, royal servants and retinues. In the evenings, the gate was lit up, hence its name. The gate was also referred to as the “Gate of Splendour.” It is the only gate that is in good condition and still retains its original looks.

The “Shairanwala Gate,” also known as the “Gate of the Lions,” was made by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. After its completion, Singh placed two live lions (or Shers) in cages at the gate as a symbolic gesture to warn any invader.

That means I've also been to Bhati gate, without knowing that. What about the extension of the city. I remember that Sozo water park and Shalamar Garden used to to be miles outside main city in late 90's.

Yes even now its not that near but the settlements are catching fast, Basically Lahore has expanded to the North towards Muridkey and the South Towards Raiwind and then East towards Indian border DHA). Most of the development is taking place from Thokar Niaz Beg (Southern most part of BRB Canal) and towards Raiwind.

Now this name Thokar Niaz Baig is quite unusual. If I’m not wrong its a by-pass road. When I heard it first time, I thought they pronounced ‘Thakur Niaz Baig’ wrongly. 
BTW, who is that Niaz Baig?

Ok is Qartaba Chowk near Cho-Burji.. I remember a chowrangi and a graveyard near the rest house in surrounding of Qartaba chowk where we stayed. Someone told that was the graveyard (may be it was Myani Sharif), where Madam Noorjehan was buried. I was confused that Madam Noorjehan was buried in Karachi.

Miani sahib qabaristan is one of the biggest graveyards in Asia, I dont know if Noor jehan was buried there or not. Ghazi Ilm Din (Shaheed) was buried there, and people claim that perhaps he had the biggest janaza in the city's history.
