Asif used Bangladesh and PTV one hundred and thirty two times in the last post!
Asif bhai, I don't think PTV in Pakistan or in north america shows the academy awards.
Only part I saw was when the bosnian guy stood up from his seat to recieve the award I saw Amir and the producer guy standing up and clapping with a sad face.
Well, I haven't seen Lagaan, but the thing which i really found disturbing, to go off on a tangent, was that aamir khan ( a muslim) went and made a hindu-oriented movie. There's nothing wrong in making a movie like that, but from what i hear there is not much mention of the muslims during that time period.
Can't comment about the oscar, never saw any of those movies, although ameli looks really good

what was "hindu-oriented" about the movie? i would really like to know. i found nothing "hindu" about it. as far as i could see, it treats people as what they are - individuals; not hindus and muslims. my friend kabir here can vouch for that, i am sure.
and who says there is no mention of muslims in Lagaan? one of the guys in the super-team that kicks colonial british ass is muslim.

on another note, it is alarming to see people making comments like - i support Mr.A for oscars cos he's muslim. whatever happened to merit? why is religion even a factor for an oscar? such blatant cliqueishness is disturbing.
for once I agrrr with Queer. I really didnt get what PCG is trying to say by declaring Lagaan as Hindu oriented. There is no bias towards Hindus. The stress is laid on all the vollagers of Champner being poor Human beings and not Muslims or Hindus or whatever. And actually for the first time the Muslim Charecter Ismail wasn't stereotype like other Indian movies!
Umair Bhai, that was a TONGUE IN CHEEK statement in response to some people’s claim here that Aamir was ‘depressed’ and ‘Annoyed’ so on and so forth. Aamir is the Producer of the movie, the other guy is the director.

Yes we were watching LAGAN on ABC from 8pm eastern time to 1 am. The Show Started with Tom Cruise on the stage and then Whoopi Goldberg descended from the ceiling a-la 'Moulin Rouge'. It was definately LAGAN and not the Oscars on the ABC.

As for those 2 oscars, they didnt go to India, Gandhi was not an Indian movie, it was made by ur gora masters... If an Indian movie wins an Oscar, that oscar goes to India.Those Oscars went to Gandhi, which was not an Indian movie.

Although, I with the rest of my family and friends were watching the oscars and half of the people noticed Aamir Khan behind the Bosnian, clapping with a frown of sadness.
Do you know why you missed it? Because it came quite fast, when you wouldn’t believe it. Trust me, your not the only one who missed that scene.
Lagaan was a great movie! I’ve seen No Man’s Land before at the university, and that too deserves as much praise as Lagaan.

I am not saying Aamir is a bad actor, he was one of my favourite actors at one point! I even said that he has the right to be sad at the oscars...
Im just saying that the Indian critics are wrong when they call the academy as being a bunch of cheats, and instead be happy and thankful that their movie made it so far...

Otherwise they wouldnt have been banned in Pakistan. As for entertainment, PTV's dramas are excellent, and renowned, loved even by Indians, and India dramas, we know how bad they are... Did anyone see that neverending serial named TARA; used to air at Zee, or 'Imanat' hahaha or 'Hinna'? 142134 episodes and still running! If I get just 60 minutes to watch television daily, and have 50 channels to choose from, id love to watch a drama serial on PTV...
