if men were treating women as their property, they would be expecting her to change her first name, not the last name.

Pets are properties so when you buy a cat from me and I was calling the cat Paws, you can call the cat Spots. That is what owning means. Lats name does not mean that now you own that person.

Well in some families isn’t it common for the in laws to change the bahu’s name? by your logic does that not come under treating women as property?
