Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

It costs :)

gotta change all documents ...fee etc ....

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

I did not change my name. I did not have to, and it was too much hassle to do it. Plus changing my name is not going to change who I am, I am still daughter of my parents, that is my identity....no need to take hubby's name.

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

I am thinking about it.
I am thinking “Jimmy Da’monk” :snooty:

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

but what if husband asks you to change your name then?

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

I did not !

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

No , I Won't !

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

I just cant believe it, now the name change is an ego issue :smack:

Does not it sound odd when you see a couple’s name as "Mr. Mohammed Atif and Mrs. Saira Choudry’ instead of regular Mr and Mrs Atif?

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

coz i want my father's name alongwith my name forever..i like it that way as i love my father more than anyone else in the world, more than my fiance so i would prefer keeping my original surname even after marriage..

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

What if he asks you to...not forces but asks.

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

what your last name has anything to do with the love you have for your father? You think that ladies who change their last names after their marriage dont love their dads as much as you do?

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

LOL…Its not an ego issue!!! :cb:

I actually dont think its a bad idea at all…just wondering what most girls think of it.

I swear, after PCG…I feel like I am the GS Resident Feminazi…:cb:

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

I don’t think it’s an ego issue, and anyways, If somenoe addresses me as Mrs (husbands name) I certainly wouldn’t mind that

btw, most women who do change their last name, take the husbands first name as their last name, so it would be Mrs Saira Mohammed…not Mrs Atif…

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

no i dunno about others..itz just that keeping my original surname would give me that feeling..i want my father's name remain attached with mine always..

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

Oh gosh, thats another thing I find so confusing among desies............what name do you even take? Some women take husband's first name and some his last name.

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

ohhhhh man if a man said this, I can imagine the shoes being thrown at him right about now. :hehe:

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

Its not got anything to do with ego at all…I think Islamically too you are supposed to keep your Father’s Name .

Practically too it poses a lot of hassles as you would need to go through all the rigmarole of having it changed on all the documents , degrees , passport etc…

Re: Ladies, how many of you changed your name after marriage?

judging from the firmness of answers that ladies are posting, it certainly does look like an ego issue. It has nothing to do with the love for your dad. What if you name is Saira Bano, no male last name to begin with. Would that logic apply then that I want to keep my dads name? No right. Then its an ego issue. That is it.
