We have relatively slow elevators in our building. So around lunch time, it gets crowded and usually people are waiting for it to make the rounds. Once the doors open, all the women EXPECT to be let in first. It’s a very professional and corporate environment, so everybody wants to be politically correct and they do let the women get in first. This puts the men closer to the door by the side wall of the elevator.
Now, when the elvator reaches the desired floor, the door opens up and the women EXPECT to get out first too. WTF is that? Why is it considered rude of men if they just walk out since they are closer to the door. But most of the idiots wait pateintly while women juggle their salad, crackers and water bottle out of the elevator.
Hey, if you want to get out first, then have the patience to load last.
^ it's a concept called personal space. When it gets violated, people tend to try not to make eye contact. If the elevator was the size of a football field, i am sure everyone would circle up.
^^ Loose weight and you wont be offended.
Funguy baji, you are very observant. I like your intense scrutiny in the lift, I hope you dont feel men out during lunch time to see if they brought hot dogs or sausages for lunch. You sure you dont work for the department of homelsand screwtiny.
Ive noticed that in London and the surrounding areas there is a severe lack of manners..people dont open doors...there is a lack of eye contact and generally saying hello or please and thankyou... unless they are well educated or "from the old school"
When going to the towns in the south, doors are opened people are happier and smile alot..they do say please and thankyou
I dont see why I should have to open a door when there is a man around!
…and then start singing “agadoo doo doo push pinapple shake the tree” followed by the ‘hokey kokey!’
as far as im concerned, ‘manners’ take a back seat. this one time at my old work place, i, out of well being held open a door for 3 girls that were carrying heavy stuff…seeing my actions they accused me of ‘trying it on’ and they launched into a furious tirade right infront of everyone! since that day i make sure the door is SHUT behind me.
‘gentlemanly’ behaviour died at the end of the 19th century.
I hate when I’m standing in an elevator, right where the buttons are, and sitll some idiot tries to push the buttons, brushing their hands against me. No it’s not pervy guys, its stupid/pervy girls too :o I mean why can’t they just tell me “excuse me can u plz press–” i’d happily do it if it meant that my perosnal space wasn’t violated
Acutally, on second thought, it’s usually the girls who do that… guys r respectful enough and don’t bother much, its teh girls who hav to push themselves right onto you to press a button thas already pressed..
Funguy, you are exaggerating! No woman expects to be the first to get off if she is standing at the back of the elevator. What makes you think that they expect to get out first? Did she tap on your shoulder and say “Funguy, sweetie, you have to squeeze back into these other men and let me get off first”.
