I can cook most things. Mainly due to my passion for cooking and eating! So hubby to be won't be complaining :P if there was a dish that he wanted me to make like his mum I would have no problems asking her for the recipe! There is nothing wrong with making use of the ideas and techniques another person has - I would never take offence to him asking me to make a particular dish like his mum makes.
I grew up with my mums cooking, and I love it... So I understand it will be the same for him!
