labor/delivery

Plz plz dont mind if I ask something that has been crossing my mind msn embarrassed smilly

How long is a 1st timer in labor?? Does she experience pains the second she slips into labor… red like a tomato

Re: labor

No mind BV, its a really scary thing to face. But it isnt a question with a really good answer. My first boy, I started having good, regular pains around midnite but not really really bad - I went to bed and even slept off and on. Woke at 4:30 and took a shower then made coffee. I wanted more coffee but said well maybe we should go....we went and he was born 20 minutes after we arrived at the hospital!!!!!

2nd boy was PURE excruciating HELL!! LOL!!! Third wasnt as bas as number 2 but it was pretty close. When they use that "pitocin" to induce labor or to make contractions more intense, watch out!

Docs are so very eager to move things along that with number 2 and number 3, they immediately broke my water. Once they did that, my contractions stopped completely. There wasnt as much to push against if you can imagine what I mean.....its so much better to let nature take its course. Interference just screws it all up.

Anyway, its something that Allah/God gave you the inborn ability to handle well.

Re: labor

^^ thnx 4 sharing ure experience, sis :flower1:

Re: labor

Mine were both very fast. After labor started they were born easily, within three hours, alhamdulilah.

Re: labor

Well, my mother went in for a regular apointment, and bam i was born.. she didnt even realize.. i was very easy to giv birth to, but oh did i make up for that later :dixsi:

Re: labor

Mamaof3, you're right. Dr.s do want to move things along with labor. I was given pitocin with #1. Then #2 was induced. Everything was so well timed and monitered with the second one that it felt like it was a totally scheduled delivery. It really took the anticipation and excitement out of it.

With baby 1, I was actually excited about labor. I wasn't scared of the pain. I even wanted a natural birth but my husband forbid it. Lol..he didn't want to see me in pain. I'm a small person so #1 got stuck. I was induced with #2 a couple weeks before due date and she was got stuck too. So it's actually good I got an epidural with both of them. But BV, labor happens in stages. It's not like you're walking around one minute and the next your doubled over ready to push. It happens gradually with contractions or your water may break. With the first baby it builds up rather slowly. For me it started Saturday afternoon and by Monday evening Safia was born. That gave me time to clean the apartment, buy groceries, cook dinner, pack my bag, call my parents and have them take a 9 hour train ride to be in the delivery room with me.

I remember walking around the hospital having very painful contractions which took my breath away. I was 7cm dilated and it was becoming painful. This was the point where the anticipation was building and I got hooked up to all the equipment.

Re: labor

^ You are one efficient woman :)

Re: labor

BV if its your first baby your excitement will overcome ne pain.

n believe me i ha had complicated labors but the pain is bearable, even though my pain threshold is very low.

1 thing i found was taht the intrenal examinations were worse pain then the delivery itself....nobody warned me about them!!!!!!!!!

Re: labor

It hurts like hell

You forget all bout it the minute you see the baby.

Re: labor

does one have after pains aswell?

Re: labor

oh God it all sounds so scary :crying:

Re: labor

once the baby is out, the pains go away like magic. there are a few pangs to get the afterbirth out but you're too busy to notice all that. Yes its scary till you go thru it - I was really scared because of my needle-phobia. NO needles in my back thank you very much. But as soon as my first was born I was like, lets do this again and have lotsa babies!! lol! Really, it isnt that bad.

Re: labor

Man. I'm so scared.

Re: labor

Does anyone have experience with at-home delivery, with a midwife or a doula? And what about back to the basics delivery methods, such as squatting or water birth? Thanks.

Re: labor

Don't they have painless delivery arrangements in pakistani maternity homes and hospitals?

Re: labor

^Painless??

Re: labor

good luck

Re: labor

yes, through injections. Im not talking about a C-section here!

Re: labor

Yeah, you can have a 10-gauge needle jabbed into your spinal column. That will take the labor pains away. And if your spinal fluid starts to leak, your brain starts to "lose its juice" causing massive cluster migraines and sometimes paralysis. Come ON ladies. DEAL with it! God/Allah gave you the inborn ability.

Re: labor

Mama, is labor pain really bearable??
