Laaj Boutique

Hi guys

I have seen a bridal lengha this weekend which i have fell in love with on ladypool road in birmingham called Laaj and wondered whether anyone has any experience of buying from them. would you recommend laaj or not?

Re: Laaj Boutique

I am getting married in June and i want a gharara made....would laaj do it? I have been to someplaces on soho rd that willmake it...im running out of time and i need an outfit! HelP!!

Re: Laaj Boutique

i have heard some stories re few shops in bham, it was discussed alot on asiana mag forum, best advice is to go to pakistan if u guys have time that is! These shops just have samples and take ur order and send it to india to get it made. But can't beat pakistani quality!

Re: Laaj Boutique

There is a boutique called Seasons in London they have some awesome designs for lehngas and heavy formal outfits, you should check it out, I m sure you will get some nice stuff but they r well expensive :-)

Re: Laaj Boutique

Is that on Green Street?

Re: Laaj Boutique

No its on Ilford Lane, there is one another called Gul Mohar and they do fabulous Formal wear :jano:

Re: Laaj Boutique

PLEASE DO NOT USE LAAJ!!
BRIDE2B we had an ultra ultra bad experience with them.....
on appearance they seem to be cheaper than the rest on ladypool road, but they are very unprofessional.
they left my sister crying 2 weeks before the wedding with no dress, actually there was a dress which was a total opposite of what was ordered, and they even got rid of teh sample b4 we got there and tried to imply that we were in the wrong!!
not only this kirans hubby(thats the boss) was so rude and threatened to throw us out, for even suggesting, it was not what we ordered just because he had other potential customers in the shop!!!
We sensed there was something wrong because he had us waiting for 2 days before he'd open the dress to show us.
IT was a horrible experience, where we ahd to go and buy one at khushboos , we paid some extra for it but we didn't care but the reassurance we got from chaand in khushboos was amazing where he acctually wnet through all the orders he had and allowed my sister to choose one because the girl whose lehnga it was wasnt getting married for another 6 weeks, and he would get her another...(which he did)...
My friend had previously ordered from LAAJ and she had fore warned me to check all the embroidery on the lehnga to amke sure it was exact, as hers wasn't.........
but to totally have it ruined it was horrible.
The rest is up 2 you but i would not recommend them at all!!!
if you do go for them take pictures of teh lehnga u place the order for!!!!
sorry to have ruined it for you but i wouldnt want u to go through what we did!!!

Re: Laaj Boutique

Hi Haseen Aatish

Thanks for your response.

Firstly i did not think Laaj were the cheapest on ladypool road - they have some high prices - the lengha i want is just below £2,000 and hence the reason why i want to be sure before placing the order.

Thanks for the warning, I have to admit i do have a second best which i saw in Panache and it was cheaper - the people in there were very friendly so i'm thinking i might go have another look at that one instead.

Thanks for your response. i think i will spend a little more time considering everything before placing the order

Re: Laaj Boutique

with laaaj they tend to come down on the price alot!!! (because of competition)
but if you do place an order make sure you do well in advance of your wedding, and once you pay them take lots of pictures, so u know what you ordered... and pictures of teh colour.....ours was exact replica of sample yet still was so wrong..
i'm sure they have had satisfied customers but the badtameezi of the man was appalling....
we had to contact trading standards and nearly the police too because he got so abusive....
Good Luck with your buying....
another thing to do i know this is cheeky...is go to other shops and say you are about to place an order with a shop but wnated to be sure thr wasn't someat better elsewhere n than they really come down on price,
my mate got hers knocked down from 1100 to 750, and even more when some of teh beads were wrong colour.!!!

Re: Laaj Boutique

thanks for this, i really appreciate it! x

Re: Laaj Boutique

LAAJ DESIGNER BOUTIQUE LADYPOOL ROAD BIRMINGHAM
Don’t go to LAAJ
It was sudden thing I had been with my fiancée for over 3 years, but this particular morning I woke up feeling strange, why? I did not know, well not yet anyway. Later on that same day upon meeting my fiancée for a shopping trip I suddenly grabbed both her hands and proposed to her, to which she answered. That day was so joyous and I could not believe how I had proposed out the blue. We had been together for such a long time and decided we did not want to wait any longer before we were officially called Mr and Mrs ____ we decided to get married within 4 months.
Both families got together and a date was now fixed. It was now time for preparions and shopping. It took us ages finding the right bridal dress (lengha). We finally found one at LAAJ, upon seeing it we both knew this is what we were looking for. We had the dress ordered and was told it would take 10 weeks for it to be made they gave us a date to collect this dress on. All was done we paid the deposit and a huge sigh of relief was felt by both of us.
During the duration of this waiting game, we went to other local shops to get suits for her for the other days leading up to and after the wedding. Each shop-keeper enquired whether or not if we had chose the bridal dress, upon telling them that yes we have and we have chosen it from LAAJ.they all started saying you should not have gone there. We have had many girls coming to us crying days/weeks before their wedding day, because LAAJ had ruined their dress and never fulfilled their promises. We did not know how to take all this gossip or back biting you might call it and dismissed it as just jealousy from other shop keepers or even competition. However after hearing this from so many shop keepers around the Birmingham area we began to actually think, one person says it fair enough two say it ok maybe, but every shop we went to had something bad to say about them. This really scared us so we went back to LAAJ after a few weeks and just cunningly asked them how our order was coming along, and after their re-assurance we were told all is going well. We then said to them we are hearing bad things about your shops reputation constantly to which they replied its all jealousy and competition we don’t like talking about others and stoop to such a low level. This answer given by them led to us being re-assured again about LAAJ.
Now it was a week before our order was due to arrive we called in the shop and were told not to worry all is well and it will be here on the date given. We called again two days before, and were told our order has been dispatched and will defiantly arrive no later than our due date. Our date come, we phoned in no one answered the phone we went down and was told it has not arrived yet and that the manager was not available for us to talk to; telling us our dress would arrive the following day. We both husband and wife to be booked another day off work, came to the shop and was told it has not still arrived and that they were expecting another delivery later on in the afternoon. At this point we were getting frustrated as we were getting pushed from pillar to post and given false promises. We called in the afternoon and it had not arrived. We were told that it will be there tomorrow at all costs. So we booked another day off work. Morning came we phoned in and was told yes our dress has arrived please come for fitting. We quickly rushed down to the store. Our dress was already hung up and upon seeing it we straight away said that this is not our dress. The manager re-assured us this is ours. We claimed that the design is totally different. She insisted it was ours. My fiancée reluctantly tried the dress on and realized it was two sizes big for her. Her face dropped, her worst nightmare had turned into reality. At this point we were fuming and said now explain this, is this still her dress? To which the manager replied yes, maybe the measurements taken were wrong. She quickly called her tailor over and said to do all these chops and changes his face expression said it all. Luckily for us the sample piece that we had chosen was still in the store. My fiancé walked over towards it. Standing next to it with what should be an identical piece now; to our amazement we realized that this was in fact a copy of the original gone completely wrong. They had designs in their shop which were made by professional designers and the ones that they had made for their customers were made by back street cowboy tailors imitating the designs.
After thirty minutes of heated arguments we were given our full refund back. Leaving us now with two weeks left before our big day and a distraught fiancée who has nothing to wear.
Why after so many negatives about a particular shop has nothing been done? Why do we allow shops to show us dresses that they only try and imitate and can never exactly get right? Why do we not report such events to the trading standards/media and allow other brides to be aware of the true reputation of a shop? Why is it we Asians have to wait for something to happen to us directly, before we believe someone else’s experience? The answers to these questions that I find within myself are that we Asians can not be bothered as we have moved on and found another dress/solved our problem. Hence all that anger has now gone.
If we customers all stood up and gave honest opinions about these shops that are operating like this then we will stop these shops from operating. Fair enough it would not be for us at the time as we have already gone through it, but are we that shallow of a race that we would not warn others?

Re: Laaj Boutique

haseen when you reported them to trading standards..what happened? can you give me the number please and what the procedure is please.

your version of events haseen are like a deja vu of ours...

It was always Kirran who said she is the manager etc but when we went to collect our dress a guy was behind the counter when we refused that this is not our dress he shouted get a refund if you want..I go butt out of it its not your place to talk..he goes im the owner of this place. Kirran did neva admit she got our order wrong she just said this is what you ordered. she came across so sweet and inocent along wwith the other girls but on the day of collection we realised her true colours..and to also use the name of the almighty and tell lies shows you what these people are like.

Re: Laaj Boutique

Hi all,

I just wanted to say that i have ordered from both Laaj and Panache and i must admit both services provided were of xcellent standard. I really like the designs at Laaj as they are more westernised than the other boutiques in Bham and so i have ordered few outfits which turned out xact like the sample i chose from - also Panache are very good with their timekeeping and service. I think it's just luck really, but i have to say that ive had some pretty bad service from khushboos. Anyway hope you have better luck next time..

Re: Laaj Boutique

xconsciencex.....
i read through yours and thought de ja vu tooo....
as you put it in more detail......
trading standards took there name and address, and told me to write to the manager demanding money back and said if they don't reply back then i could go through court or someat..... and i believe i could also recalim any expenses from them as in constantly going to teh shop and afterwards the difference i had paid for a new dress.....
but my sis wedding was within 2 weeks too, and we had so much other stuff to do and i didn't want to waste time on them idiots in LAAj.....
kirans husband is the one who turns up at the shop once they have a wrong order......at least he wasn't abusive to you coz at one point i honestly thought he was gonna get physical he was that abusive!!!!!

i just wouldn't wnat anyone else to go through that!!! so thsi is why i'd warn people...
i know other shops must mess up but at least they'd have decency to admit it and offer alternatives.

Re: Laaj Boutique

xconsciensex

i can't remember teh number now it was last year i rang....

Re: Laaj Boutique

:hmmm: Thanxz God i didnt order my prom Dress from Laaj lol, Have any of u tried Meena Bazaar and Midlands Fashion ?

Re: Laaj Boutique

Avoid avoid avoid avoid avoid avoid avoid! They completely screwed my order up and the man got all aggressive as soon as I told him the design/fit of the outfit was different to what I'd ordered. Khushboos arent much different.

Re: Laaj Boutique

LAAJ a big no!!! i seen loads of arguements whilst just looking around, khubsoorat definatly are better service and the shop nex door to that, cant remember the name. Also try silons and kirans on soho road my sis in law got her wedding stuff from both shops, the fashion is updated to with catwalk looks etc. X

*PLEASE DO NOT GO TO PANACHE ON LADYPOOL ROAD. tHEY OFFER A TERRIBLE SERVICE AND WERE SHOUTING AT MY FAMILY IN FRONT OFF ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS. I HAVE NEVER COME ACROSS SUCH RUDE AND ARROGANT PEOPLE IN ALL MY LIFE! I HAVE HAD TO REPORT THEM TO THE TRADING STANDARDS COUNCIL FOR STEALING MY DEPOSIT OF £140 FOR AN OUTFIT THAT WAS NOT READY IN TIME FOR MY NEICE'S WEDDING. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO RETURN MY DEPOSIT WHICH IS ILLEGAL. I HAVE INSTIGATED LEGAL PROCEEDINGS AGAINST THEM. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE BUSINESS TO PEOPLE WHO LIE AND CHEAT AND STEAL. *

THE SHOPS ON LADYPOOL ROAD ALL NEED TO GO TO A SEMINAR ON GOOD CUSTOMER RELATIONS
