Hundreds of Pakistani rights activists have held a mixed-sex road race in Lahore in protest at a ban on men and women racing alongside each other.
**The BBC’s Paul Anderson in Lahore says women participants wore traditional dress, the salwar kameez, and not all sported running shoes - some were in high heels. **
So the aunties had their race day and wore their best zayvar with all the trimmings including the gold wedding shoes they thought they’d never get any more use out. God bless em, all the uncles had to cook their own today God bless them too.
Some got into the fun run fancy dress bit as well:

Khaanrr nu roti nai te race kardiyaaN ne, p***** y**** diyaaN.
What exactly do they hope to achieve by running side by side with men?
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong or right with it, it’s just this unhealthy obsession with the west which pisses me off, they just want to be like gora people, why judge by their sense of equality? How is segregation fringing on female rights?
This Asma Jehangir really pisses me off, paon qabar mein hain aur mastiyaan karti hai, lagta hai buddhi ko hawwas ki aag jalaaey jaa rahi hai, yahaan aa jaaey ham thandi kar dein ge.
Dude, women all over rural Pakistan work in fields side by side men. I am sure you have been by the side of women too…does that make one characterless?
exactly what you first line implies. They are reduced object that are only p**** Y*** diyan when men come home.
So now when people feel hot for sex they start running? strange mullaN logic…quiet normal to expect.
Ranjhan (what pisses me off is you have picked the name of some one who wanted to be so much by side of a woman, Please take some nae..don’t degrade true love of Ranjha), tell me, I assume you are educated and probably in some technical field…are you going to work side by side other women in your life? Will they all (probably same or better educated than you) be ph*** Yo***diyan too?
These kids brought up on high doses of MullaN MiaN Baby milk are the worst hypocrites ever seen…they enjoy all freedoms provided by the west or best and richest can buy in Lahore or Islamabad and then come and trash others like in this thread.
Aunties have got to eat na, the pots contain vital fuel yes but not the isotonic drinks and energy bars the western marathon runners eat but parathay, keema and pindya.
Catty,
Yes a little mirch masala but I’d think the scene would have been something like this. with every auntie having her own naukrani carrying the handi roti along, anything else wouldn’t be civilised!
^ Incidently there were no MMA people this time around. It was ever so effiecient pakistani police who assulted women who were trying to stage a protest marathon…
MQ, point is that there's no point in banning this kind of activities. What were these idiots trying to prove? Last time we had this discussion, it was said that females wore shorts etc for the race, and during the laathi charge, they beat the crap outta a female wearing dark green full shalwar qameez, not one single female wearing shorts in the crowd! Both male and female police officers were beating young girls and arresting them, what kind of moral idiocy was that? Don't we have any other problem, these kammi log can be kept busy with? We haven't heard any update about the rapped collage girl, one amongst hundreds. But half of Punjab's police force is gathered to watch a freaking race.
Point is that someone with guts fights for a yard and ppl like us are given an inch in return. I'm sure females all over Pak are still beaten for wishing to be able study, and I'm dead sure there are idiots out there, labelling that wish, westernised too. Females like Asma Jehangir make history, like Fatima Jinnah. One doesn't have to agree with her to show respect.
To be quite honest I still fail to see the point. Yes I agree that it is idiotic for the police force to beat them and arrest them because they wish to take part in such a race. And yeah they should be able to run races with men if they please.
However, if you point out that the police should be worrying more, and doing something more about rape cases (and not a darn race) , then I fail to understand why you did not mention that these so called freedom fighters for women - are also not going and speaking out about rape cases. As you mentioned there are more serious issues that need consideration. So I would think that these aunties running in races would organize something to help rape victims? And why arent they?
And no females all over Pakistan are not beaten if they wish to study. In Pakistan, even in a lot of villages which are still quite far behind - importance is placed on education.
All sorts of people make history. We dont have to agree with them.
MQ, these ppl are not paid to raise a voice, while police is paid to protect citizens of Pak, I hope you wrote that as a joke, which I failed to understand. Mention three rape cases that come to your mind, which were handled by the police without these freedom fighters involvement. Where does the law say that females are not allowed to participate in mixed race? Do you understand that because of this mentality majority of middle and lower middle class girls have a hard time getting a decent job? This was a symbolic gesture to show the leaders of whatever clan that idiocy is not accepted.
"And no females all over Pakistan are not beaten if they wish to study. In Pakistan, even in a lot of villages which are still quite far behind - importance is placed on education."
Huh? Care to dig up literacy rate among females in Pak? If you can't afford to go back to live among the common ppl to learn about their day-to-day lives, perhaps you can pick a thing or two from literature written by ppl living there. There's no reason to be naive about such a basic problem of Pak.
Ppl can make history for all I care, just don't go around insulting them, is my tiny lil point.
I know they are not paid to raise a voice. Im sure they werent paid to take part in these races. Yes I know the police force is paid to protect citizens. However, these women can take part in races, why cant they organize protests or such to make people aware of the more serious issues such as rape. Dont you think that rape vitims need more attention, and not races? And in order to demand that women should be able to work in certain types of careers, shouldnt something be organized to promote that? I personally think , they can be doing a whole lot more good if they concentrated on the major issues which Pakistani woman are facing. I dont see how getting the right to run in a race, is going to help these women. Pray tell what joke?
Yes Im quite aware of that fact. I am indirectly related to school projects in various villages of Pakistan. In the past years I have even visited them, and know quite well about their day today lives. I say villages, where people still dont have phones in their houses nor proper running water. You stated that women are beaten all over Pakistan if they want an education. That is not true. Im well aware of the literacy rate - among not just women - but also men.
I dont go insulting them. But come to think of it , a lot of people do that just fine all on their own.
