What does the term KunjRe means which is used with Qasai for low castes?

Why some professions like Qasai were disrespected in Desi culture?

...the term 'kunjRa-qasaaii' refers to 'lower class of people' in conversations.

agar koii jaahilaana/ochhii baat kare to kahte haiN..."are kia kunjRoN-qasaaiyoN jaisii baateN karte ho!"

why they are disrespected? i guess because of their nature of work and their attitude/demeanor which is tough N rough [it's just a perception though as i've seen very polite and cultured kunjRaas and qasaiis] :)

But how this term became derogatory? What about the culture of treating some professions like Qasai with disrespect.

i don't think people in general treat them with disrespect...i think it's just confined to the conversations only...at least, i haven't seen any particular disrespect thrown at them. as i said earlier, it's just the perception!

People still avoid giving rishta of their daughters to Qasai and KabaRia families. Isn't that a culture in Desis?

rishta is something different..it's about class and baraabarii...shaadi sirf laRkii laRke ke milan kaa naam nahiiN, hamaare samaaj meN shaadii se do KhaandaanoN aapas meN juRte haiN...ab Khaandaan meN har taraH ke log hoNge...agar laRke ne paRh likh liyaa to uske Khaandaan waaloN meN bahot se aise hoNge jinkaa peshaa vohii hogaa...so jab taqreeb vaGhaira meN mileNge to it will be an embarrassment for them kiuN k yeh to aap bhii jaante haiN k Ghair paRhe likhe logoN ke rahne sahne kaa, bol chaal kaa aur ek duusre se ta'alluqaat nibhaane ke andaaz aur huaa karte haiN...Islam bhii kahtaa hai k aapas men baraabarii meN rishta karo. ab jaise ek paRhii likhii laRkii kii shaadii Ghair paRhe likhe insaan se kar dii jaaye yaa kisii deendaar laRke kii shaadii kisii aazaad-Khayaal yaa aubaash laRke se kar dii jaaye to us shaadii emn sivaaye dard-e-sar ke kuchh nahiiN hogaa...maaHaul gharaanoN kaa ek jaisaa honaa chaahiye...IDEALLY!

You mean Islam says to do marriages in people with same status? I thought Islam rejects any distinctions made based on castes and all that. :hmmm:

I would only consider my would-be-wife's compatibility with me and my family. Other things are secondary for me :)

Muqawwee bhai agar larki ka status(educational,lineage,wealth) ke mayar par agar larke se baraa ho to uss basis per wo larke se talaq maang sakti hai...

The situation a bit relieved when getting married with a girl from such families, because girls are always expected to adjust and compromise :bummer:

Shadi hamesha ek juwa ho, chahe equal status walon main ho ya upper status walon main. No one can give guarantee you considerclasses and castes while considering Rishta as first thing.

baraabarii does NOT equate to caste-system.

Ok KKF my mistake for misunderstanding.

But don't you think that there is a culture of following zaat paat rather than factors you mentioned like Taqwa, etc? Even in Syed families Najeeb ul Tarfain concept still prevails.

these rules are broken easily if the boy and girl are educated and live in today's world instead of living in their great-grandparents. hardly anyone stays and becomes a nai because their dad and granddad were nais etc.

and this status thing is exactly what the caste system is. let us not sugar-coat it.

But when status system works IK can marry Jamima....but its impossible in caste system....:D

the caste system = status system enforced by birth.

if you say a nai or qasai's son or daughter is lower in status to someone else, that is the caste system.

and the uber-rich and elite have never had to play by any rules. imran khan etc is not the norm.
