I’m astounded by this great piece of Punjabi poetry. Everything in it makes sense like daiwar’s laRna with pabhi, soRay na jana 'cause of evil sass. What I don’t get is the kuR kuR karn wali kukaRi part. How a kuR kuR karn wali kukaRi better than na-kuR kuR karn wali kukari? Why do kukaRis do kuR kuR anyway? Is this somehow related to hatching?
These cultural bits have always confused me. I’ve yet to find a satisfactory answer as to why ‘gillee paThee day daanay’ are better borrowing from song, ‘haaniya way lamma ganna kamaday da’. I talked to various gurus of cultural know-how but still no good answer.
I suspect shair hazraat introduce these eccentricities just for the sake of it or just 'cause it rhymes or presents some sort of anokha notion otherwise there is not much there in practical terms. So kuR kuR karn wali kukaRi and gilli pathee day daanay are all BS suggestions and you should buy these commodities based on your own judgements.
As a matter of fact, I’m thinking why would you want to buy a kukaRi that makes noise? kuR kuR is annoying in all shapes and forms.
Roemo, these Dorays reflect experiences and expertise gathered over centuries. KuR-KuR wali KuKaRi means the one that is sexually promiscuous KukaRi…a KukaRi that will fool around with all the KuKaRs that she meets along the way. It is very true. In this case it is a metaphor for married life.
So when she expresses her desire for a sexually promiscuous KukaRi, she is sending a signal to her Husband-to-be that he better be prepared to satisfy her own KuR KuR, else she is going to leave him with his peepee in his hands.

ammi says that these are mere tapays. In my view (which isn’t very authentic of course,might be humble though), this kur kur tay bur bur are just there as a balancing act. You know like in poetry there is ‘Kafia and Radeef,’ in this case Kafia being kur kur/bur bur and Radeef being ‘kardee aiy.’
Waisay, on a second note, ‘kukri’ seems like an analogy for ‘mui susri’
Minerva, Wazan (balance) if fine, but every bit signifies a particular event as well. Wazan without meanings will render Punjabi poetry as useless as Urdu. In Punjabi we take pride in our folklore, and we take it seriously.
This is a bit racially inclined song. The kukkaRR is a white guy and he is yearning for a kukri who wears qaasni (purple) dupatta. Now, we all know purple color only suits fair girls. This song is a true reflection of the messed up 'gora complex' of our society.
Hey while we on this KukRi subject, was it Hatam Tai that used to count his eggs? who was the wanker that would count eggs before they hatched and made an empire out if it? Talk about futures and derivative trading.

Back to the topic, I think as the incessant kur kur of Kukari is annoying so is Sassu maan's bur bur. So, maybe my wild guess about this being an analogy is correct. With due respect to all MIL's.
This is exactly the kind of promiscuity this thaRki baba, Madhanee, has been spreading around for years on GS. The innocent naive young minds come to GS to satiate their thirst for knowledge and information and he leads them off on to a path of moral debachery. I’ve yet to hear him admit that food and animals are just food and animals and not sexual objects.

Minverva, please, karachiites would be the last people I’d expect to know the depths of Punjabi metaphors and poetry. We don’t use words unless they mean ten different things in ten different contexts. Why do you think we make better politicians?
