KSA again creating confusion

Saudi Will Look for The Crescent on Monday 28 Shaban!

Surprisingly, Saudi announced officially on Saturday 08 September 2007 that they are not sure of the beginning of both; Rajab and Shaban, and hence they will look for Ramadan crescent on Monday 10 September!! So Ramadan could start in Saudi on Tuesday 11 September!! We wonder how they will look for the crescent on Monday, when it is impossible to be seen on Tuesday, and it will NOT be seen by naked eyes from Saudi even on Wednesday!!

Re: KSA again creating confusion

why dont we use a telescope where we live geographically and start ramadan when we first sight the moon

why do we need the goofy saudis to do this for us?

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Because the goofy Saudis were doing it centuries before geniuses like you came along...

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Its pitty that despite the centuries experience, they are not sure whehter they sighted Rajab and Shaboon moons rightly or wrongly.

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Can't use telescope. To sight the moon it has to be naked eye not using any tool.

No comments on Saudis.

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Doesn't that mean that heavy cloud cover could delay the start of Ramadan? So the start of the month is dependent on both the moon and the right weather?

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Islam may have originated from Saudi peninsula but that doesnt mean that we still have to be a lakeer ka faqeer after centuries. People need to realize that ,Islam is not limited to saudi peninsula anymore......people living in the different time zones need to start their ramadan according to their local community moon sighting......

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Any withness of viewing moon in your horizon is enough for you to beleive that moon has been sighted. Also moon sighting in west applys to east but this rule doesn't apply vice versa as moon revolves from west to east unlike sun from east to west.

Re: KSA again creating confusion

You are right. Its a hadees. According to which, if you cannot see the moon because of clouds, and its only 29th day of last month, then wait for one more day and then start the next month, the day after. If it is alraedy 30 days of last month then finish the month and start new month from next day

Re: KSA again creating confusion

So what happens if an airline pilot or passenger on a plane flying high sees the moon on a night with heavy clouds when people on the ground cannot? Would the person who saw the moon have to fast the next day but others not?

Re: KSA again creating confusion

^^ Good question, really dont know answer.

Seeing the moon with naked eye, without using much technology is the way, most scholars go with. Airplane is a technology, so I dont know whether it counts

I guess (and its is only a guess) that after landing, he/she is obligated to follow the verdict of the local authorities on moon sighting regardless of what he/she saw

Let's see if I can find out more. If you do, let me know

Re: KSA again creating confusion

its idiotic. im sure they would have pre-compass ways of figuring out the qibla but you dont insist on using those anymore do you?

Re: KSA again creating confusion

I don't know about plane, but if due to clouds ppl on ground can't see the new moon, Islam says to complete 30 days of that month.

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Just follow your local masjid! I don't agree with muali on lot of things but I do agree with him on this issue1

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Makes sense, why Allah (swt) sent most of his Prophets/Messengers to arabs. These baddoos will never learn.

May Allah hasten the zahoor of Mehdi (as). The Awaited One .

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Isn't it the same country where once (in 1980s) king told everybody to celebrate Eid knowing that moon was not cited!

Re: KSA again creating confusion

there are various hadees which tell us to physically witness the sunset and dawn for breaking and starting the fast, respectively. But i dont do that instead i follow the callender (which is provided by local bakery )timings and see the clock for opening fast instead of seeing the sunset.

Not only me, but the whole pakistan is doing the same

Are we doing something wrong islamically ???

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Can you tell me from which country the Islamic calendar started from? Perhaps all time zones should have their own version of the Islamic calendar...

Re: KSA again creating confusion

Are you really wise?

Re: KSA again creating confusion

The Islamic calendar started from the Hejaz. The Saudis simply conquered it in 1924.
