Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

Russian Orthodox Church is afraid of the influence of Hindu religion among Russians.

Russian Archbishop calls Lord Krishna ‘Satan’

Hindus are shocked and outraged to read the views of the Russian Orthodox Church on Lord Krishna, who is revered by over one billion Hindus worldwide as the Supreme Lord, said an ISCKON press statement.

According to it, in a letter to the Mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, dated November 29, 2005, the Archbishop Nikon of Ufa and Sterlitamak from the Russian Orthodox Church called Lord Krishna “an evil demon, the personified power of hell opposing God”, and “a livid lascivious youth”.

The Archbishop further requested the Mayor to ban construction of the proposed Krishna temple in Moscow saying it would otherwise become “an idolatrous disgrace erected for the glory of wicked and malicious ‘god’ Krishna”.

“Construction of the temple (a satanic obscenity destined to be built right in the heart of the Orthodox Christian country of Russia) to Krishna offends our religious feelings and insults the thousand-year religious culture of Russia where the overwhelming majority of people, Christians and Muslims including, consider Krishna an evil demon, the personified power of hell opposing God”, said the Archbishops letter.
“The shower of offences that Archbishop Nikon decided to publicly pour on Lord Krishna caused us intolerable pain and evoked bitterness and indignation in our hearts,” said Sanjeet K. Jha, the president of the Association of Indians in Russia.

Aside from displaying stunning ignorance of the world’s oldest religion, it is also evident from the statement that the Russian Orthodox Church is still embedded in the dark ages of religious exclusivity, which has no place in today’s increasingly pluralistic society.

To call Lord Krishna ‘satanic’ is not only sacrilegious in the eyes of Hindus; it is also patently ridiculous as any student of Hinduism knows; for Krishna is famous as the slayer of demons, Bhagavad-Gita (4.7-8).

In contrast to the Russian Orthodox Church’s stance, Hindus respect Jesus Christ, who is predicted in the Vedas, the ancient Hindu scriptures, as a specifically empowered personality.

“We respect all religions”, said Bimal Krishna das, General Secretary of the National Council of Hindu Temples (UK) and the Russian Orthodox Church has nothing to fear from Hindus. “We think the Archbishop may gain some fresh insights into his own Christian faith by reading Krishna’s words in the Bhagavad-Gita,” he said.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

This is good news, this is sign of church getting worried about increasing influence of Krishna mission in Russia..

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

No one has a right to humiliate others religions or beliefs. When one resorts to such means it only highlights thier own weaknesses and thier own instabilities.

We live in a paranoid world where individuals project thier fears by attempting to degrade others.

This is what is happening to Islam. Having said that, i strongly believe that Muslims are thier own worst enemies and have given ample ammunition to non muslims to have a field day.
The Archbishop i suppose knows very little of his own religion. If he did, i'm sure he would'nt be making such statements.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

Well Said Doc..

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

This just illustrates the corrupt mentality of all religous orthodoxy everywhere... Be they Muslim, Christian, or otherwise...

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

^^

Muslims never ridicule other people's religions like calling their idols or objects of worship as satanic or anything...Never...

Every other religion seems to pick on Islam anyway...Despite there being no ridicule by Muslims of others' faiths...

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Does anyone know why Aurangzeb was called the idol smasher?

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Lets keep the topic to the thread.
Lajawaab, The discussion on Muslims and what they do is in other thread. Why being so defensive.
Its just one clergy saying something about Krishna. Not Pope, and anyway 70% christians don’t agree with Pope anymore.

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Hey Lajo, do you actually believe that crap?

Please visit the many, many anti-Hindu posts on this very board for an education on the insults Muslims have hurled toward the objects of worships of others.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

one way I tell you.

if you want to be winning person, give respect and get respect.

if you retired person or loser person, sit down and discussing about this religion bad and that religion bad or this good and that good. sala all waste argument

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Great response!

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

No one in this world is taking lots of crap from anyone other than muslims these days.

People have opened like the pandora box against muslims citing 9/11 as if they were just waiting for the oppurtunity despite the vast and literally vast majority stating that THIS IS NOT WHAT ISLAM PREACHES.

Hope this cleared the clogged ears and fogged minds…I can only hope and wish for.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

Lajo and Deeda - Do you remember the destruction of the Bhuddist monuments in Afganistan by the Taliban there.

Most Pakistani's then, tried to defend this action by saying - in Islam Idols are not allowed.

Worldwide - people saw this as another proof of Islam being an intolerant religion.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

1-Well, before afghanis did anything to those already broken monuments, british army in past used those monuments as 'target practice'!!!

2- No buddha lived in afghanistan at that time so no one living in that country was hurt.

3- How many buddha live in india now where supposedly buddhaism once emerged and florished?

Do you consider this as proof that hinsuism is intolerant or you need to be reminded of Babri Masjid demolition by terrorist hindus or muslims killed alomst every quarter of the year for supposedly 'inciting' hindu terrorists????

British NOW making documentary how evil act afghanis did by demolishing the monuments...double standard?

Having said this, the monuments in afghanistan were supposed to be preserved for their historic value.

Lastly, Islam is not the topic here. So stick to the topic of some one with another religion calling hinduism as plain evil and I personally do not agree with that mentality either. If you bring Islam here then you will get the answer.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

Yes Idols are not allowed in Islam to be worthy of worshipped.

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Have you ever listened to some of our esteemed mullah’s and their khutbas? I have heard them and let me tell you, its not just non muslims who get ridiculed as kafir etc, but also their fellow muslims.. What some of these so called scholors say about Shias is enough to make you throw your hands up and give up on Islam all together.

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Any link, proof related to your story?

Any proof that the babri structure was a Mosque or shall I remind you that Islam prohibits offering namaz at a disputed site.

Can you confirm me that Muslims have never destroyed any of worship places?

ps, and after making all allegations against non-muslims, he reminds us to stick to the topic.:k:

Re: Krishna a ‘Satan’, claims the Russian Church

Islam and Muslims are NOT the topic here.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

Deedawar, Than why did you went on supporting and writing a whole page on Islam. Ofcourse Anjjan has right to respond. He started this thread. Nobody said anything against Islam as first response in this thread yet.

Re: Krishna a 'Satan', claims the Russian Church

If you scroll up and read posts 3, 4, 5, and 9, 13 and 16. You will find how islam and muslim comments were started and I have all the right to defend what I believe in. Bolded numbers were the worst posts in this regard.

Number 6, 11, 12, 14 and 15 were all RESPONSES to earlier posts.

Number 18 could have been another respose to earlier post but I had to remind even the thread starter to stick to the topic!!!

Hope we go back to the track after this respose from me. (number 20!!)
