Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
@dessert bird and @anwar Pasha can we stop cut/paste here rather than suggesting what’s your personal opinion or knowledge about OP’s question? Lets not derail the thread.
OP, I can tell my small bit of eperience here. When I visited Pak back in October last year i asked a Peshawar native what change have they seen in KPK since the time IK’s PTI has taken control over the provincial govt. And their answer was a flat NOTHING, like absolute no change as compared to previous era.
Then i’d to ask the same question with someone in islo and put up the same feedback i received earlier they said wutever PTI govt is doing in KPK, the results wont be seen overnight rather than it’ll be take next few years to see the impact of the steps they are taking now. Fair enough, I think i’ll take it if they think they are taking steps on grass root level which they’ll harvest at some later stage.
This is the first time PTI is in govt on this scale and I’ll give them fair chance and wait for the end of term to judge how exactly they have done. Its the glass half-full I firmly believe. ![]()
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
this was today’s role of the ruling party of kPk , The news item , No one will believe if I write it without the link .
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
@Anwer_Pasha and @desert_bird, I can read these articles on my facebook feed too. I am looking for more in person experience.
@SID_NY thanks man … I agree that it will take sometime to see the results but Pakistani people aren’t that rational. For them what matters is that Lahore had the metro bus service in 1 year before election, do we have any such results in KPK … no, which means KPK government is a flop.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
Situation of law and order was very bad when Pti took over, the situation is much better now. In addition to this they have worked on health and education, the indices in these two sectors have seen improvement. A year and a bit ago Peshawar was being dubbed as the biggest reservoir of polio virus in the world. Peshawar itself has seen some change. More needs to be done though. For pmln the answer to everything is metro. The biggest impact on kpk can come after local body elections, the two bigger provinces where two parties have been ruling for 7-8 years straight have not been able to conduct them in their provinces.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
We need more provinces either way. KPK should be broken down too for greater good.

Time to head to AP uncle’s bhawalpur thread ! ![]()
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
To measure their success you have to look at how they defined their goal.
And if people voted them agreeing to their goals.
So PTI wanted to fix institutions. Which did not take them too long.
For example police, land transfers.. hospital management.
These things impact on people’s life.
As long term planning I know IK’s head is on right place.
I have head him talking about real issue and real potential of pak.
For example once he spoke about pak having 6 feet top soil, which in west is like few inches.
He knows power of small projects. He is very well aware of timer theft. PTI is planting the trees.
What was hopelessly out of their hand was taliban issue, which thank God army brought under control.
So good things are happening and would happen more.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
6 feet topsoil with deforestation and water logging? Why do I call bull**** on that one.

PTI achieves significant improvement in governance
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
I clearly remember Imran saying he would ‘end corruption’ in 180 days.
There have been some improvements in KP, such as police.
Overall it is just an average govt, with the situation more or less the same.
What do you expect when the Pti CM dances at the dharna, uses KP govt resources, for the dharna- while people were drowning during the floods?
The talk of ‘Naya KP’ is bakwas. PML-N has contributed much more to Punjab.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
^ Don’t mislead the readers and deny facts out of sheer political contempt. PMLN has been in power in Punjab since 1980s, and this is their second consecutive term which for dummies mean that PTI is in third year of government in KPK and PMLN is in their 8th year. Massive difference. Do you think depoliticising and modernising the police is a small feat? If so, why isn’t PPP and PMLN so concerned about this. Why can’t they even make an attempt at this? Anyone who thinks depoliticisng the police in Pakistan is a small or just another improvement knows jack about Pakistan and suffering of ordinary citizens.
KPK is to get Peshawar mass transit this year for less than half the price of Metro bus which will cover more distance. As with PTI failing to end corruption in 90 days, have a comparison of the anti corruption legislation passed by PTI (Right to Information, Right to Services, Ehtasab Commission) and how vigilantly it is being advertised to increase awareness and public usage of such legislation. Before you spew anymore rubbish, just look at the corruption graph below. This is what people of KPK has to say in almost an year old survey, not people sitting in outside of country or different parts of Pakistan. I can post a massive list of bureaucrats who got dealt for corruption.
http://www.dawn.com/herald/survey/_img/tab2/corruption-province-past-year.jpg
The mere fact that PTI under spent its its budget (usually its other around in other provinces with zero results) clearly highlights how there is no corruption otherwise all the money would’ve been gone. The fact they are saving shows that politicans cannot just loot taxpayers’ money. It is a shame that we just don’t locals to share their experiences. Most of the time people’s only source is print media or hearsay.
PTI should hold its head high in pride over the fact that they raised the standards so high and they are judged against such strict standards. They must stick to their motto of building institutions. People can keep swooning over Punjab for a Metro bus lollipop.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
The LG polls in KPK will not only just transform KPK, but put pressure on parties like PPP and PMLN to start following the policies of devolution, stop helicoptering your family, friends and lackeys, and let locals take charge of their own affairs.
Enough of this pathetic dramaeybaazi where a dictator like CM sitting in Lahore asks police DSP to take notice of a gang rape in Gujranwala because he saw a breaking news in the media. And illiterate, ignorant and easy to please masses call this lame PR exercise good governance.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
I would suggest watching Ameer Abbas’s program on Dawn news in which he asked public about the performance of the Pakhtunkhwa Govt a couple of days ago. I think you will get much better picture.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
What do you expect when CM KPK dances at dharna
What do you expect when CM Punjab keeps killing people in Model town
What do you expect when CM Sindh keeps sleeping
Just because CM KPK was seen dancing one day doesn’t mean he has been dancing for 2 years. Similarly Shahbaz hasn’t been killing people for 2 years just because he ordered his police to do so one particular night and obviously Sindh CM hasn’t been sleeping for 2 years.
As much as you want people to believe PTI has failed, people of KPK say otherwise. Now only average people in Peshawar/Abbotabad agreed PTI is doing great job, even people at ANP jalsa saying they wll vote for PTI as they have changed things.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
In addition to that LB elections being held tomorrow are also of huge significance. Remember Punjab and Sindh couldn’t do this in the last 7 years because it obviously involves transfer of power which they don’t really want.
Re: KPK - Any improvements ?
a lot f it had to do with Taliban and for all its worth, PTI was pro Taliban until the army started the operation. It was supposed to cause a civil war according to them and how wrong they were. I know noon is to blame as well but PTI was supposed to be an honest party of change.
We don’t know if reforms have been successful after bannu. Right now, no mass escapes point to that but then there hasn’t been any mass breakouts in rest of Pakistan either. Perhaps we could look at robbery, kidnappings but I can bet that even here Taliban has a huge role if they can run a crime syndicate in Karachi hundreds of miles away.
