If the Koh-i-noor diamond originated in India, why does Britain get to keep it?
Re: Koh-i-noor
They want to keep a souvenir from their imperial days.
Re: Koh-i-noor
They won it, fair and square. Spoils of war actually.
Re: Koh-i-noor
Just read a nice statement regarding why it should not be returned to India:
"If you say yes to one you suddenly find the British Museum would be empty."
Re: Koh-i-noor
^ lol true!
I believe its Indian property and it should be handed back to India. ![]()

Guess what?
OldBoy just read a nice statement regarding why it should not be returned to India:

Re: Koh-i-noor
Yes my apologies. (Some double click issue i guess)
The stone is cursed anyway. Probably the stone was the reason why the British Empire collapsed later.
Re: Koh-i-noor
^ Don’t mind me brotherman. I was just messing with ya ![]()
Re: Koh-i-noor

Oldboy, how can this purty thing be cursed? ![]()
On a serious note, the history of koh-i-noor is just so amazing! It has passed through the hands of so many indian (hindu, muslim, sikh) rulers and also made its way to lahore at one point I think… I read a bit about its origin/history etc and it seemed like something out of a fairy tale! Fascinating!!
Re: Koh-i-noor
How can the koh-e-noor have such an amazing history lol? It's a diamond o_O
Re: Koh-i-noor
Well, everything has a history Jafro, especially a diamond that is said to be over 5000 yrs old. Here’s a brief timeline of the diamond:
Re: Koh-i-noor
I have a history too.
Re: Koh-i-noor
^^ Diamond in the rough !!!!
Re: Koh-i-noor
*Here is an interesting Myth !
*
**The Curse of Kohinoor
It is believed that the Koh-i-Noor carries with it a curse and only when in the possession of a woman will the curse not work. All the men who owned it have either lost their throne or had other misfortunes befall them. Queen Victoria is the only reigning monarch to have worn the gem. Where the monarch is male, the stone is passed to his spouse.
The possibility of a curse pertaining to ownership of the diamond dates back to a Hindu text relating to the first authenticated appearance of the diamond in 1306: "He who owns this diamond will own the world, but will also know all its misfortunes. Only God, or a woman, can wear it with impunity**
Re: Koh-i-noor

Re: Koh-i-noor
Kohinoor is not in India thats why India is fast becoming a super-power and Britain is being rediced to rubbles.
Re: Koh-i-noor
